Dry heat is definitely the better option in my opinion. The Finnish seem to be overall a very healthy population.

Get one that does both - no brainer... The infrared makes me sweat faster but the steam from the water over the coals is a much hotter so depends on mood and amount of saunatime you have.

Ive been in several saunas with a wood fired huum hive. Loved them, got super hot and great steam. Love the amount of steam you get with that many rocks.
I got relatives that have built sauna stoves so I will most likely have them fab one up for me.
Still in the planning stage on the full sauna build. Hopefully weโll be in a place to build on our land next year.
