He has no idea what he's talking about.

Salty and lack of education.

If "the dream" of free speech means I have to be completely anonymous, then I'm out - I'll just live in a hut in the woods.

The real dream is being able to speak my mind -as myself, if I choose - without censorship. Sure, they can try to silence me by throwing me in jail, but they can't lock up everyone - we'll just keep finding ways to relay and rebroadcast our messages.

Having the option to post anonymously is important, but it's not the ultimate goal - or at least, that's not how I understood it.

It depends on what the potential consequences of a particular thing you want to say might be, and those can be very different based on where you live, too.

pizzapay ? what is he talking about ? 😂

IRONICALLY MADE HIS POINT NOT ANONYMOUSLY.

I haven't finished listening to the podcast yet, but he seems to be working on his own project called DarkFi. I am going to assume a token is involved. The beginning of the podcast was semi-interesting, talking about his experience with the Bitcoin Core devs in the early days. This discussion was brought up when mentioning the private chat application he has built. He really speaks badly about Bitcoin Core and the state of Bitcoin throughout, though. I honestly think he only took a look at Nostr for less than a couple of minutes and got turned off by it because it was recommended to him by so many Bitcoin maxis.

Full context of the clip I posted.

bla bla word salad. he is clueless and wrong

1. Its not federated, that's why we talk shit about Blusky and Mastodon

2. They only personal info you share with relays is your IP, easily masked with a VPN or Tor

3. If you self host you are 100% uncensorable

4. He is stupid and wrong

Who

He’s not wrong though. #Nostr is pretty good at preventing one’s speech from getting censored but it doesn’t provide the anonymity that is needed for one to speak fully freely.

yeah, Amethyst allows tor as an option. I don't think there's a client where you can't mess it up by default.

Looks like he doesn't know how to use for. But then even if nostr has its defects it's shit compared to what? What's the alternative? Is he building a better solution or even trying to improve nostr?

He is building something called DarkFi

i feel It's an intriguing observation. It seems that innovation often emerges from moments of confusion or misapplication.

I'm curious to see whether he will harness this opportunity to refine or redefine the existing framework. What are your thoughts on how this might influence the overall landscape ?

That would be huge is he can come with a solution of the problems he pointed out. Meanwhile I'm thankful for what has been built so far.

I'm glad it's not just me. I feel like the statement has merit. I don't think I hate it as much as he seems to, but I do think there's a lot of holes in our thought around how this thing works.

The concept of owning your own data or identity is also very interesting because all you own is your private key. Your data is really kind of everybody's.

I love nostr. I love the experiment. I love the community. I don't want something like Twitter. I love seeing new tech built on it like #getsafebox.

But it really is sort of digital ham radio.
