I’m going to vent.

Claudio and I got lucky—-or so we thought. We were heading back from Paris to Cancun. We managed to get same row on the plane (38K+38J) And no one was sitting beside us (38L).

But our luck took a turn when the person behind us was “tall” guy. About 5’7 MAX. He was with two friends, both female about 5’3-5’6 tall.

That guy, male 5’7”, was sitting behind me. It is a 10+ hour flight. Each seat is entitled to recline about 3 inches.

So after we took off, I reclined my seat, rightly so. That is when everything exploded.

The female friends started attacking me in French saying I could not lay my seat back because his friend was “too tall” and didn’t fit. I acted like I didn’t know what they were talking about. Things escalated that one of the girls got up and tried to move my seat up!!! …excessive I know 👀

Thank god they calmed down. For about 90 minutes.

So now Hour 2 into the flight, I get up to the bathroom and when I got back the male behind me would not let me recline the seat. He would resist.

That is when the flight attendant passes and

I explain the situation, and when she said something to them the guy lied and said they lost their phone.

Minutes later, the female friend in the middle, who is one feisty human, starts calling me a bitch. And they keep shaking my seat.

That is when clau comes and tells them to stop calling me a bitch. And told again the flight attendant the situation.

We end up moving seats because their attitude was obnoxious and disturbing. I can’t believe there are still people like that in this world. With such low class and lack of manners. It’s people like that I realize those videos you see online about people acting crazy or hitting a random person are 100% real and not fake. Be careful out there.

Obviously they ended up taking my whole row since me and clau moved seats. Yes it’s annoying. But then I’m left thinking, why is it that the bully gets to be comfy? Why is it that they get away with being evil and they get their way? Meanwhile I end up in a middle seat.

My question is, why don’t they get mad at the air line rather than the person who purchased their seat of the plane?

Like why attack a civilian when the issue isn’t my seat. The ISSUE is every year the seats on the plane get smaller and smaller to fit more people to make the ticket prices cheaper.

If you do not fit in a normal seat, which most people don’t. I’m 5’3 and barely fit. Why don’t you purchase an upgrade? why don’t you pick an aisle seat? Or exit row? Or if it’s a 10+ flight maybe invest in a business ticket.

But attack the people who fit on the seat, and make them feel bad because they are too in that long flight and uncomfortable??

Airlines need to do better. And so do people. Honestly I was lowkey scared that they would hit me or something.

Do better. @airfrance

This could've been a racist hitpiece on the French.

Would have made you feel better.

Venting made me feel better. Honestly feel bad for her for having so much anger and having to go through the world like that. She already got into 3 other fits on the plane

So sad! Airlines are fiat companies, aiming to getting more money and providing worse services. They are embedded in a flaw system. Bitcoin could fix this.

You're amazing @isa . Hope you're ok!

Fiat at its peak!

Fuck im 6'3 and refuse to fly if its not exit row and aisle. Ive never been able to fit in planes. But to comment on the issue, its usually easier to deal with the victim whos remaining calm vs the belligerent ass.

INCREÍBLE sorry guurl 😱😘

I know lol smh but it is what it is!!

these situations just suck 🤦‍♂️

the problem is the lack of alternatives ... that's why the airlines can do almost anything they want.

and unfortunately there will always be stupid people ...

100000%%% lack of alternatives…literally its absurd

Sorry to hear that

Sadly, not everyone grows up with role models who teach them how to treat others with respect. I’m far from a perfect parent—there’s a lot I still get wrong—but one thing I won’t compromise on is respect. If my four kids act out or treat others poorly, that’s on me. They will always be taught the value of respect and reminded of it whenever they fall short.

That is truly the best thing you can do, we are in a society where people think they can get away with being rude

I’m 6’4” and understand when I purchase a plane ticket that I am going to be uncomfortable the ENTIRE TIME, but I do not take it out on the other people around me.

I have had people push back hard intentionally because I do on occasion bump the seat back when I try to adjust my legs or stretch for some brief relief. I don’t get ugly about it and tell them “sorry”.

Sounds like these three brats have never had their nose splattered across their cheek for being rude and disrespectfully aggressive.

The actual tall people in my life that I have been on flights with are the same, THEY KNOW they know and they aren’t brats

6’5 here and completely concur with this. It’s the cross we bear in the airplane. 🤣

People nowadays should get a beating to learn some respect for others. Unfortunately I see many young people as many old boomers that fell very smart and think disrespect is acceptable. We should teach them the old way.

“tall” 5’7 guy is the most bullshit part of this whole thing 🤣 Anyway sorry this happened to you. There are some terrible people out there, and some nice ones.

RIGHT? When he stood up ..I was like tall my ass 😂

Next time I’d recommend telling the flight attendant more of the details. If the flight attendant has to ask them multiple times to stop there can be serious consequences for them. There are strict laws about complying with crewmember instructions.

I did! She was French too, so she believed them more I guess

The French are assholes so that tracks 🤣

Sorry to learn about that 🙄

Yeah after flying economy enough times on long flights it is 100% understandable why first class boards a separate entrance and puts up a curtain so they don't have to even look at the back of the plane lmfao...

Recent ten hour flight I just said fuck it and flew business class. But hey it sounds like you handled it as well as you could.

Honestly, business is the way to go. Im trying to figure out which credit card gives me most points for that

Rise above the bad vibes

Napoleon complex, 21st century style

jajajajjajajaja

This story is pure travel nightmare fuel. It’s exactly why the ultimate dream is a yacht for sale https://www.yachttrading.com/, where the only person behind you is miles of open ocean. So sorry you had to deal with that absurdity; you deserved to recline in peace

Lack of patience + High time preferences behavior on their end,

Right?!!

That really sucks.

Classic douche French behaviour

I didnt want to generalize, but damn might agree

Haters gonna hate.

Lol

you need to tell them what the heck they doing. loud and clear. you being too nice.

No one wants to put people in their place anymore.

If I were you I’d put in a complaint to the airline and explain your side of the story, with the implicit threat that you’ll take to social media with the story (and the flight attendants’ poor handling of the situation) unless you get some satisfaction. They’ll throw you a couple of upgrades (or even free tickets) just to keep you quiet. 😉

*Why is it that they get away with being evil and they get their way?

In the long run, do they though?. Well handled, walk away, switch off, don't give them a moment.

I'm about to fly to France. Hoping for no issues.
