Last night we had dinner round a friends house.

The husband is saving the rivers from the effects of data centres, who's AI generated cat videos consume 1 glass of water for each person that watches it.

I won't disclose the discussion we had, but feel free to construct your own discussion thread here πŸ˜‚

I would start with this: whydopricesrise.com

Sounds like the "bitcoin mining uses too much energy and causes global emissions" argument.

You mean it doesn't? πŸ˜‚

I started with the line,

"As a Bitcoiner, you must hate me, we use about 5% of the worlds electricity" πŸ˜‚

Well acording tio this TL the cat is more interested in smoking fag s than drinking water. I don't know how this changes things, if at all...

You've just forced me to look at a cat photo.

That's a thimble of water the earth will never get back πŸ˜‚

That’s not AI, that cat smokes 20 a day!

That's bad for the cat, not me πŸ˜‚

I hope that's not tap water? AI better be careful. That shit'll kill anything.

Nope, completely organic river water, complete with fish poo, chemical effluents from the nearby factory and my piss from that skinny dip I took after visiting the data centre πŸ˜‚

Mighty. Get that bottled Delboy. I'll start printing the labels.

We'll be miwyonears.

A million doesn't buy what it used to πŸ₯Ή

Ya full of the joys of spring this morning, eh. Well bugger it then. Leave it in the river.....

Won't the fish become millionaires?

I suspect some Bluefin tuna already are. Asset rich but cash poor.

It'll be fun to watch the same outlets that fudded Bitcoin mining turn around and defend ai data centers using our arguments, as I'm sure they're incentivized to defend big tech

Wow! Maybe the roadster can be designed by this AI! And then the robots he showed us a couple years ago. The future is now!!

Also funny that there was no mention of latency, which I gather is a huge consideration. Not to mention maintenance cost and deployment costs lol

Nerds in spacesuits with a $10 wrench will be a thing in the future πŸ˜‚

Meanwhile, here's me with Elons robot πŸ‘

Open loop liquid cooling is kinda dumb no matter how you do it.

Evaporative can only make sense if water is basically unlimited but those places tend to be too humid for decent evaporation.

Dumping the hot water into a river downstream kills the river.

Closed loop heat pump systems exists but I guess they cost an extra nickel. The billionaires building the data centers build them 1000 miles from home so who gives a fuck about the local impact right?

You should have been at our dinner party πŸ˜‚

I guess my invite was lost in the mail.

I sent I cruise ship to the Port of Miami to collect you!

Did you not get my NIP-17 DM πŸ˜‚ ?

I really need to check them more frequently.

This sort of rant is exactly why I don't get invited to dinner parties.

I don't think I'll get invited again either πŸ˜‚
