#Bitcoin freak. Anarchist without adjectives. Freedom maximalist. Bitcoin events in Brighton UK

I think mostly the best we can do is to be mindful and self aware of our own nature so that we can avoid getting caught up in such dynamics ourselves. And also to lead by example in rewarding more pro-social behaviour.

Like I said, I do think nostr changes the incentives as compared to centralised social media, but I see that more as removing an amplifier rather than really affecting human nature itself.

We'll see how it plays out here as adoption grows and a more diverse set of people join, connect, and clash with each other. I do think its great that such a positive and friendly culture has developed so far.

Yeah, was about to suggest this by Bob Murphy one myself (animated by bitbutter.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8pcb4xyCic&t=1s

There's also a Machinery of Freedom one he did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTYkdEU_B4o

Or for anyone who's maybe considers themselves more to the left then could try some of the articles from more traditional anarchists on panarchy.org, this one is a good start https://panarchy.org/molinari/security.html , or contemporary writers such as Kevin Carson and Charles Johnson (Homebrew Industrial Revolution by KC is amazing)

I'd like to believe that were true but I'm sure we'll end up with tribal behaviour on here just like on all social media. I think the lack of algorithms that are geared towards optimising engagement can help with that to some extent but people will still enjoy arguing with their enemies. That probably means a good put-down or attack on said enemies will be rewarded in zaps by their tribe.

🤣

I'm actually just looking now and didn't realise you interviewed Ben de Waal and Karo recently so gonna give that a listen too, I guess some of those opinions are also quite controversial. Was hanging out with Ben quite a lot in Riga so will enjoy. (also met you quite briefly and bought a copy of your magazine)

Last one I listened to was the Rodarmor one, on which I thought you did a great job, that was the first one in ages though, can't recall off hand which others I've listened to 🙏

Agreed. I doubt any listeners will be upset about it, I'm an occasional listener and I'm certainly not.

I'd consider zaps on here as entirely separate from the pod funding, mostly people are just zapping for fun and because it's exciting to be a part of this new thing, anyway.

To put that in context, that's already more than the no. of active users on Mastodon which has been around for 7 years! (apparently there's 7 or 8 million total Mastodon accounts though, and between 1 and 2 million active each month)

Not strictly a bitcoin book but I'm gonna mention it anyway: The Price of Tomorrow by Jeff Booth.

This isn't necessarily going to work to get enough zero bits if you're looking to get a pubkey that can be used on pow.nostrati.com or other relays that require pow32 (as I think Nostr-Check was intending)

q is definitely equivalent to 0 in the bech32 encoding but I'm not sure if it will always be exactly 7 🙏

Plenty of room! There's still more than 40 spots left at the 2000 sats rate 🙏

I can see your payment so you should be good to go. I'm not associated with the above account but they do seem to have honoured their offer to give away a space on my relay (Thanks @Nostr-Check.com !)

Pura vida nostriches ☀️☕

Just a reminder that wss://relay.nostrati.com is still dirt cheap at only 2000⚡ !

We're currently at ~150 users and once we get 200 the price will increase to 5000⚡ as this will be a more sustainable price to maybe cover costs going forward 🙏

Also, if you have a PoW public key that starts with at least 8 zeros in hex format (32 leading zero bits) then feel free to add wss://pow.nostrati.com, it's free of charge. This one is currently not getting much use but server is paid for for the next couple of months so let's see how it goes.

Have a great day!

Changed to settings.yaml in recent versions though ;)

IIRC it gets automatically created during set up but if it's not there then there's an example file in /resources 🙏
