Oldest son, 16, cleaned up on all his school-leaving exams, all 'A+', hardly dropped a few marks across the board.
Middle son, 14, took one exam early, just to get ahead of the game, also bagged an 'A+'.
Friends and family mocked us for jeapoardising the children's chances by taking them out of school. Gossiped us like we just sat in our pyjamas all day watching daytime TV and playing XBox.
Our vision was faith, character, and skills. We were already proud of their grounded faith and character and their broader uptake of skills. But I guess we had a little doubt whether they would still 'ace' the papers needed to access 'the system'.
This morning, doubt evaporated.
And my heart is swelling with a good kind of pride... way to go lads, and what a woman I married who joined me in this vision and helped to make it happen.

The fear is burned onto their psyche and no amount of logic will talk them out of it.
Once the bell rings the mouth salivates, once the fear phrases circulate again the mask comes out.
To undo the fear, they need to walk back to
- those images of people falling on the streets of China
- those pop up hospitals and make-shift morgues
- those hazmat suits and streets being sprayed
- those scenes of hysteria as 'the infected' were boarded up in their own homes
- those close ups of intubated actors with pleading eyes
- those confused emotions while watching contagion and songbird during house arrest...
... all that long before we were talking about injections, yes the fear was planted long before that, indeed the injections became a distraction so the original fear could remain buried and overlooked... but that's the root.
They need to take a deep breath and acknowledge 'man, I was duped, it was all fake, a Truman Show immersive assault in which everywhere I looked for verification was already 'in on the secret' and worked to herd me back into the fear... now I can see that, it's obvious I'm gonna be ok'.
Only then will they realise the door to their prison of fear was unlocked all this time.
