Anyone use IVPN? They were thinking about joining Nostr. https://www.ivpn.net
I have a free 3 month voucher that they gave me, but I'd rather give it away to my Nostriches.
Post your best meme and I'll pick a winner after I get get home later this evening.

Ironically Solingen prides itself for traditional high quality blade manufacturing. That's basically their slogan as a city.
I know so many people that rely on TG for everyday communications and it would be devastating if suddenly their chat client were deleted from their phones. No doubt Apple is capable of doing that, but I think they are aware of how bad the feedback would be with many people losing contact to family and friends since they don't really have an alternative means of communication when living overseas.
Since a recent update you can enable private message routing which means you never connect to any servers but your own. Your incoming SimpleX server will then forward your outgoing message to the incoming message server designated by your communications partner.
On the other hand if you can enable a Tor proxy in SimpleX I don't really see any harm in connecting to the other persons SimpleX server directly. The server will only see your Tor IP address (often times not even that when your connect via its hidden service, which most offer).
I would even argue that connecting directly over Tor is more private in the situation where you host a small personal SimpleX server. As a evil SimpleX server: If I see your SimpleX servers' IP connecting I can expect it's you delivering a message. If I see a random Tor exit IP, the anonymity set is much larger.
https://securemessagingapps.com by is the great comparison of messaging apps, but there are several incorrect statements about @SimpleXChat there. Commenting in thread 𧡠below.
There are no limits to post length on nostr so feel free to make one long informative post as opposed to the eyesore of a thread.
What about longevity of these shoes? Do they last longer than Nike fiat sneakers before they break apart?
time to come clean about zee bugs

This guy is putting his life on the line for some dope education around inflation and real food. I appreciate that and am eagerly waiting for the next vids
The + addressing works with more email hosts than just gmail. I have had the issue of not being able to reply from that specific alias and some sites not processing my support tickets for security reasons if they don't come from the exact email address with the plus
Best tool I discovered in a long time: email aliasing services like addy.io or simplelogin.io
Give out a unique email alias to every single site you sign up and if their data gets breaches you always know which one leaked because only they knew of that specific alias.
Also when you get spam mails you can just switch of that one alias and still keep your main inbox.
A VPN or Tor would probably also work. As would using a decentralized Messenger like nostr:nprofile1qqsth7fr42fyvpjl3rzqclvm7cwves8l8l8lqedgevhlfnamvgyg78spz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq3qamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwa5kuegpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqj9swg4 or SimpleX Chat.
I'm completely the opposite: not having a bathroom with a shower to myself stresses me out AF! π
Why 9 of 10 Nostrtweets are from nostr:nprofile1qqsxu35yyt0mwjjh8pcz4zprhxegz69t4wr9t74vk6zne58wzh0waycppemhxue69uhhjctzw5hx6ef0qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjt3s0p3ksct59e3k7mf0qyt8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytndd9kx7afwd3hkctctqc4jq in my timeline, seems like a one green man show here?
You need to follow waaaay more plebs and you'll get a more diversified feed. Some people are on nostr but mostly post to twitter.
I read and tried to understand that letter but all I get is vague threats that the EU might do something if Elon does not do something they might want.
No real content in there as to what they ask him to do or what he did wrong.
Classic politician bullshit.
In case you missed the news, #ChatControl is back on the agenda of the EU governments: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/take-action-to-stop-chat-control-now/
We wrote before that strong e2e encryption is the only way to protect children online: https://simplex.chat/blog/20240601-protecting-children-safety-requires-e2e-encryption.html
Write to the MPs you voted for β every single letter can change the outcome.
And huge thanks to Patrick Breyer for fighting this insanity.
How would nostr:nprofile1qqsvnx99ww0sfall7gpv2jtz4ftc9v6wevgdd7g4hh7awkpfvwlezugpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9u29qz2y react if the #ChatControll in its' strictest form were implemented tomorrow.
Would you remove the App/Play Store downloads for EU users?
Would the app still be available to them from GitHub or your website?
Would your smp servers block EU IP ranges from connecting to them?
Wow, you really don't seem to care for latency π
Or maybe it's just a fake server location.. Windscribe does that to offer servers in Antarctica.
Nostriches: which is your preferred VPN exit country?
Your home country? Some other specific location, and why?
#vpn #asknostr #privacy
Nostr relays can also work over TLS encrypted connections. In fact most do.
If the relay address starts with wss:// it is encrypted (web socket secure) and ws:// is unencrypted websocket connection.
