It’s really busy in our webshop today and parallel to the busy bitaxe shipments we got some great news. We can accept fiat payments again. We lost our payment rails because we were doing something with bitcoin. We didn’t bother much because our webshop was a side business and only for bitcoiners. Recently we received a lot of requests for fiat payments. We would arrange payment links via our bookkeeping software allowing for quick fiat payments manually when requested. We were already doing this for a few years for larger business customers. At some point last month, we received more requests than orders via bitcoin. So we applied for the fiat rails again. And we received an ok today after being in discussion with mollie for 2 weeks. Really happy we are now back online with fiat rails. Apple Pay one click checkout saves you a lot of time. Time is your scarcest asset. Have been discussing this with lightning hero’s that plugins or apps should at least offer the same experience putting your address in a certain application for webshop checkouts. The nice thing is, books are still being ordered via the Dutch Amazon (bol.com) which means people are investigating bitcoin. This year the amount of Dutch translated books we ship is up a lot.

You need an account for that. Every shipment is linked to your account. An account can be accessed by a lot of people within the shipper. We manually ship without an account so there is no data trace to us as we see that as a risk. Therefore we can’t arrange pickups. We’ve asked for automatic deletion or enhanced security with shippers, but it’s simply not possible. Every shipment you make with your account is stored and linked for at least seven years. Accounts have no 2FA and are easily accessible, so we see it as the biggest risk in data gathering of bitcoiners.

People have no idea how much of a hassle shipping in EU is sometimes. Especially if you do everything manually to ensure your clients data security. Today we shipped two Coldcard Qs to a certain island that’s part of the EU. First there was a try with the manual DHL, didn’t work. DPD tried after, couldn’t ship. PostNL, worked. Now you need to select the extra large package if you want to send it insured (you want to, the package is valuable). Now the interesting part comes, a shipping wall drop off box system has been implemented recently. “This package cannot be dropped at this point” The nearest drop off point is a town further. We are located in Brabant, between the farmers. The next town is not just around the corner, it’s a drive… So we drive to the manned drop of point. Looking forward to seeing it arrive. People have no clue what goes behind a single package sometimes. Can’t wait for decentralized bitcoin drone delivery 😉
