Yes! I am dealing with the same. Very hot summers. Can’t have animals so that’s why we are trying the water system and I will put a shade cloth over most of the area. I’d really love to have some success with my squash and watermelons.
I’m on year 3 trying. 😅 We installed a drip water system. Hoping that helps. We don’t really have Spring weather so nothing ends up producing. I just get a lot of leafy plants. I did manage some zucchini last year.
