working on Alby - enabling consumers and developers to interact with the Bitcoin Lightning Network - the protocol of money – everywhere: in apps and the real world ⚡moritz@getalby.com

Thanks for the report. Do you have Tor activated in Amethyst?

What happens if you connect the Alby account again, click save in Amethyst and try to zap someone?

Which Nostr app are you using? Please share some details with support@ getalby. com. I will look into it.

Cool. Are you thinking of a mobile wallet app or a mobile browser extension for iOS?

Oh no. Sorry for this experience. Have you tried to check "Remember my choice and don't ask again"?

What could we do better?

You only need an email address if you want to sign up for an Alby account. But that is not needed if you connect your own node or another wallet. Downloading the extension does not require an email address.

We don't do a good enough job in communicating the difference unfortunately. But it is an important one.

Yes, the Alby account is a managed account by Alby which requires an email to sign up. We want to make the first lightning experience as easy as possible until we have a non-custodial alternative ready.

But you can use the Alby browser extension in a completely self-sovereign way with your very own lightning node. Doing so you have full privacy with the Alby extension. All data is stored locally on your device.

Oh no how can I help with Alby? Do you want to send us an email to support@ getalby. com and describe the problem. Or just DM me : )

I am good. Luckily Bumi, Jakub and Kwinten have been in Japan.

I plan to visit Taiwan in February and already look forward to the food. 😋

Can you double check if you use the same Nostr private key in the Alby extension on both computers?

If you import your Alby account you use the Alby lightning node for routing payments.

Maybe you can configure your bitcoin onchain wallet separately in BlueWallet.

You can use the Alby extension with your own lightning node.

The Alby browser extension is a fully client side application. No data is shared with any party externally. Ally data is stored locally. You can have a look at the open-source code. But I agree it might be a bit surprising why all these permissions are needed. Here you can read more about it: https://guides.getalby.com/user-guide/alby-browser-extension/faqs/what-permission-does-the-extension-require
