I grew it in my garden, no covers. Our temperature only dipped into the low 30s Fahrenheit a few times during the winter. With less sunlight and warmth, the ears were shorter and there was less pollination. It was just an experiment. I probably won't do it again and plant a cover crop or winter veggies instead. In 2 weeks, we are planting corn again in the same place, and planting it during the proper growing season for our region.

We're really taxing the soil doing this. I will plant a summer cover crop after this next harvest. Last year we planted sunhemp to nourish the soil during the summer.

We're only 2.5 years on this property. I'm still learning how to navigate the seasons to grow year-round. It's been mostly fun, sometimes frustrating 😁

Kinda tired at the fiat mine this morning. Last night hubby and I harvested three 5-gallon buckets of corn... yeah, corn in February in Florida 🌽

We got about half of it cut off the cob, blanched, and put in the freezer before we got tired and called it a night.

I'm tired, but it's a good kind of tired.😊

Enjoy your loquats! I have 6 trees. Mine are ripening right now. I don't know what variety the are, but they are yummy 😋

How do you prepare them? I make jam and eat fresh off the tree. This year I'm going to try to make fruit roll ups with them.
