You said you're still trying to figure out how to think about how we can have a digital thing that we can't copy. I have a frame that I use to explain that. It may not go deep enough for you though, and I would love for you to poke a hole in it if you can.
The private key is just a number, and there can only be one of those numbers, just like there's only one number seven. We can duplicate representations of the number, but we can't duplicate the number itself. There's only one.
In fact, the number seven is a private key and we could send Bitcoin to one of its addresses this moment.
But the nature of seven being such a low number makes it less entropic, I guess. At least in the frame of the human mind which uses that number a lot And so we are biased towards it.
So what we're doing is laying claim to a single number that is in such a large domain that it is practically impossible to guess it as you discussed earlier in the interview.
So that's how we cannot copy it because there is only one number seven.
Now, the concept of "what are numbers" in the first place is an interesting discussion that I'm probably not capable of having with someone on your level. 😀

Lots of half truths on both sides of this one. He's right about forever wars, but Iran is a peaceful country that wants to live in tranquility? Tell that to the survivors of the hostage crisis in the 70s, or the people who just had missiles rained down of them and Tehran. Plenty of examples in between those two events either. They bookend an entire history of violence from Iran... and the United States.

I think your point that holding money is a use case for good money is what you're saying, but other concepts like velocity, for example, are affected by people who do not spend the money they hold.
That is where some of the mystery lies, and I don't think we're going to find out until we find out.
I think Bitcoin's ease of divisibility and other aspects are going to make it work well even though it is a deflationary asset.
Isn't one of the possible recommendations to remove the limit completely on op_return? And if so, would that not allow basically limitless data to enter into the Mempools and be written to the unprunrd blockchain.

I've been curious all my life. Why do so many (western or non Asian) people use chopsticks to eat Asian food?
It is a vibe thing? Is it an authenticity thing? Tradition? Trying to experience or honor culture? A fun dexterity challenge, perhaps? Or maybe learning new things?
I mean, there are certainly many arguments for doing it. It might cause you to eat in a more sensible way compared to the little pronged shovels that we Westerners tend to use. But I don't think that's why.
