Sold baklava for Bitcoin in 2011

Used oak & apple woods + lump charcoal & briquettes (to help with the smoke ring). 10lb brisket after trimming.

About 12 hours to cook @ 275⁰, wrapping it in butcher paper halfway through. Wrapped it in towels and rested inside a cooler for 4 hours.

The long rest makes all the difference. Can't recommend that strategy enough.

I love how it came out after a hotter cook than usual. 225⁰ takes an eternity on my Hasty Bake grill/smoker. It needs to run hotter.

I have a tendency to over-smoke so I took it easy on this one. Much better results. Sme people really enjoy a strong smokey flavor. I prefer a subtle approach.

Used apple and oak woods plus a mix of lump charcoal & briquettes.

The brisket is perfect, wish I could share with everyone!

Woke up at 5:15AM because this brisket isn't smoking itself

Looking forward to all week in Austin for BitBlockBoom.

17 days away!

Flew a plane for fun yesterday with my former instructor.

Loved everyone minute, and still comfortable with my decision to not become a pilot. 😄

We're very nontraditional--no rings!

Doesn't matter though, we were both earning 100% income in Bitcoin by the end of 2013.

Today I'm celebrating 11 years with my wife! Being married to a freedom loving bitcoiner is the best.

We worked together at Blockchain(dot)info as the first two employees for 5 years. Anyone who has ever worked for a startup knows how crazy it can be, especially the early days. It's not a 9-5, it's a 24/7.

We've watched Bitcoin go from < $10 ancap money to what it is today. We couldn't have made it through all those ups and downs without being aligned philosophically.

It's not all about Bitcoin, of course, but the freedom movement is how we met. It started with that foundation and grew into a deep bond.

Here's to the next 11 years, and many more after! 🥂

350-375 until they aren't runny. I broiled them off at the end to crisp them up.

I used 4lbs of ground beef, 18 eggs, and two, 6 well USA Pan mini round cake baking pans.

Baked egg and ground beef "muffins" 😋

Turtle baklava batch #2, now with smaller pieces & crushed pecans sprinkled on top.

Only in Austin next month at BBB!
