The various “wars” in the Bitcoin community provide an opportunity to gain a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes in this very rich Bitcoin ecosystem.
There has been no shortage of examples in the past: BCH, BSV, Block size war, UASF. They are not easy to understand in hindsight when you have not been directly involved.
Today's war between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots gives us the opportunity to understand things at first hand, to form our own personal convictions, all of which are respectable, and ultimately to tip the balance in favor of the side we collectively want to see triumph.

Bitcoin is a monetary network and NOT a storage tool. I switched form Bitcoin Core to Bitcoin Knots to help preventing Spam.

About 98% of public Bitcoin nodes run Bitcoin Core, while Bitcoin Knots represent about 2% of nodes.

Does spam on Bitcoin even exist?
🔄 Switching from #BitcoinCore to #BitcoinKnots? No need to redownload the blockchain! Here’s how to reuse your existing data:
1. 🛑 Stop your Bitcoin Core node.
2. 📂 Locate & move your data directory (usually `~/.bitcoin` or `C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin`).
3. 💾 Install Bitcoin Knots from [their official website](https://bitcoinknots.org/).
4. 🛠️ Configure Bitcoin Knots to use your existing data:
- Create `bitcoin.conf` in Knots' data dir.
- Add `datadir=/path/to/your/moved/data`.
5. 🚀 Start Bitcoin Knots & let it verify your data.
6. ✅ Check sync status in the debug console.
Easy peasy! No redownload needed. #Bitcoin #Blockchain
Running Bitcoin Knots
All right. Thanks for your help.
For Bitcoincore users:
you can configure your node to mimic certain Knots restrictions by adjusting -datacarriersize (e.g.: -datacarriersize=40) in your bitcoin.conf file. This makes it possible to restrict OP_RETURN transactions without using Knots.
I will try to do that on my computer.
What is the issue with OP_RETURN and Bitcoin nodes?
Personnellement, j’étudie Bitcoin depuis 6 ans, c’est à la fois multidisciplinaire et recentré sur un même thème.
Braiins Pool is the oldest active bitcoin mining pool in the world, having mined its first block in 2010. It was originally known as “bitcoin.cz” and “Slush Pool” before being renamed to Braiins Pool in 2022. I have join the Braiins Pool recently with a Bitaxe 601.
