‘Drupe’ is not as catchy as ‘nut’.

Developing story: #Cashu are not nuts.

What are they?

Read below and more news to come.

Rumours are that nuts (even the #Cashu kind) can be stored as events as nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft has recently demonstrated. We’ll confirm that when we can.

I’m exploring this approach for my custodial system. Better to store encrypted events (nuts) on someone else’s relay than have in my own database. More difficult to be strongarmed.

That’s what I thought. ✅ No local device or client storage at all. In effect, the relay(s) become a blind custodian(s).

Keep keeping it real for us. Appreciate your candour.

Bolt12 gives me the ability to have a static QR code for an unrecognizable string. How is that better than a Lightning address that can give me a QR code for a reasonably recognizable string?

It’s a start. These things have to go through a million iterations before it’s palatable for normies. I think the kernel of the idea is sound but how to communicate, not there yet.

I gave up. I implemented a nostr nip04 challenge/response which IMHO gives sufficient security assurance without needing the hardware. Plus it makes every #nostr client and out of the box Authenticator app
