It’s essential to spend time with people we love, unless they’re narcissists. We can still love them, but it’s definitely better to not spend time with them.
Make the time, take the time to be with good healthy people.
And just to be completely clear, I do not advocate drinking to cope with narcissists. Healthy coping mechanisms are advised.

Narcissists catalog and collect everything about you to use against you in the moment as well as in the future.
Compassion or understanding about a struggle or a hard day?
Not a chance, their day was harder and they work through their struggles better than you do.
Need to vent? They will tell you that all you do is complain.
When you express emotions, they will say you are dramatic.
This is also a way for them to tell you that you are always wrong no matter what you do.
The best thing is to only share with them what you absolutely have to in an emotionless way.
