any client out there supports feed-by-list? ie like a following feed except it's from a custom list of npubs?
#asknostr
perhaps make cookies require a permission, just like access to location, access to mic, etc. and the browser would let you auto-set
except the most popular browser's maker needs them cookies for their core business..
looking at my nostr feed today i experience the opposite of fomo
thats what i thought at first.. but then i realised i was just missing some relays and the client i was using didn't try hard to thread things...
an app that keeps me upto date on what's going on - that filters the noise yet reaches beyond far beyond my follow list, brings to me what i value and yet doesn't hog my attention, where i'm happy to pay-per-use and because it saves me time and keeps me informed, where i get rewarded for helping others stay credibly informed
it almost exists, but not yet
apps enable users
i think its kinda irresponsible to do it under kind 1
you know what i'm asking, why send all the image data, esp. in a protocol that basically requires duplication
Huge milestone: First demo of Nostr Web Services (NWS) bringing TCP to Nostr. With NWS, you can host any existing web application on Nostr without having to use DNS or even announce your public IP to the world, simply by sharing your service's npub (or nprofile).
Try it out the demo yourself. Here is a Cashu test mint running with NWS. Let's use curl to retrieve the mint's information. The request travels from your computer to the public NWS entry relay, then through nostr to the service's NWS exit relay. At the other end is a Cashu mint with HTTPS encryption.
```
curl -s -x socks5h://relay.8333.space:8882 https://nprofile1qqs8a8nk09fhrxylcd42haz8ev4cprhnk5egntvs0whafvaaxpk8plgpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuwpnxvejuumsv93k2g6k9kr/v1/info --insecure | jq
```

I can't stress this enough: THE MINT RUNS BEHIND HTTPS!
The NWS entry relay can't read your traffic. It's encrypted. We can host public entry relays that can be used by anyone.
This means we can plug the entire internet to it 🌐.
Let's plug it into Cashu for now. Nutshell wallet supports socks5 proxies (that's how it uses Tor). By setting the public entry relay as the proxy, the wallet can now connect to a mint's npub/nprofile and communicate with it via NWS.

This is going to be so freaking cool. And it's going to be a lot more useful than just for Cashu. There are still bugs and issues that need to be ironed out but the code is coming out soon. Watch this space.
it's cool, but what problem does this solve?
Top nostr priorities are:
1 content / user discoverability
2 quality assesment and filtering
3 ease of use
"other stuff" won't happen if social doesn't work, there just won't be the critical mass foundation, the general functional substrate for all the "other stuff" to be useful
i get it, i'm talking subtelties ofcourse, but the ux is all about subtelties, less about optionality and more about intuitive
you'll probably want to reset back to top after some sensible amount of time (ie 1h) as mental context gets reset
novelty is wearing off and rate of novelty is dropping, while audience is not growing fast enough, as nostr hasn't reached the network takeoff velocity
yet

We take so much for granted.

Short the FUD
Long the truth
Stack the coin
I struggle with the code/chat balance..
An era is truly ending.
