Just a random Bitcoin lover and physicist. Don’t be scared if I sometimes switch to German 🇩🇪

People act irrationally, not randomly. The only truly random this is white noise whose power spectrum is a constant number from -infinity to +infinity.

That's why I randomly throw in random obvious nonsense once in a while to see the reaction. Works well with my students.

I'm actually more afraid of people who agree with me all the time.

If I were to attack bitcoin effectively, I would target on- and off-ramps in the first place. Having full control over the on-ramps is getting increasingly complicated (people develop decentralized exchanges like robosats and bisq), so controlling the off-ramps might be the next goal.

The question is: What for? The mainsteam public has been psyop'ed for a long time, to an extent that they put bitcoin and eth and other shitcoins in one row, calling them "high-risk assets". Psyop'ing hardcore bitcoin devs who hold most of bitcoin makes no sense, while the intermediate layer (the average nostr user) holds so little bitcoin that it's unlikely to cause major changes.

Not every state is a good thing and not every state serves or has to serve a higher purpose. Singapore under Lee Kuan Yew had almost 0% corruption, but at the price of a dictatorship. This resulted in a full-scale qualitative transformation of this country and Singapore now is miles away from any Western democracy in terms of self-regulation, self-sufficiency and autonomy.

A good state is one that the people don’t notice.

I think unfortunately, if the church had stayed faithful only to the good ideas of the past (commandments, life, liberty, property, etc.), it would have disappeared very quickly because these are very idealistic principles by nature that can be easily corrupted by bad and greedy people (the absolute majority of people). In a way, the infection with terribly wrong ideas was a necessary adaption to reality, which was very effective as we are still discussing this 2k years down the road.

Also regarding the role of the church as a symmetry breaker in the political system if the medieval: It could be true for later times, but in many cases the church was the origin of this centralization and, hence, the power. The Vikings (and later also the Normans) adopted Christianity to strengthen their power, for example, in Kievan Rus‘ and Normandy.

Thanks for mentioning the book. I will take a look at it.

(To be clear, I am not a religious person at all, rather atheist/agnostic, but I am interested in the origin of Christianity as such.)

If I understand it correctly, not only private property is a gift from God. More importantly, it is an individual’s liberty (or life, depending on who you talk to). The non-aggression principle is a major consequence they draw from this. This contradicts the notion of a state as a violent „stationary bandit“, which they see as a necessary but temporary evil.

Generally, I don’t see some minor communal obligations as something bad. I think Switzerland is a good example of how this could be realized (maximum local autonomy held together by a bunch of impersonalized abstract constitutional agreements). As people live more and more tightly next to one another, the situation as in Rural America of the 19th century get more and more unrealistic.

Christianity does not contradict libertarianism ans vice versa.

Many libertarians I know are christians and hard believer.

I would definitely recommend the Einundzwanzig community and their podcasts (https://einundzwanzig.space) nostr:npub1qv02xpsc3lhxxx5x7xswf88w3u7kykft9ea7t78tz7ywxf7mxs9qrxujnc and also nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc and his books. Einundzwanzig also offers courses and has a network of telegram chats that are friendly and can be pretty supportive.

Regarding places to buy in Germany I would still consider global resources like Bisq and Robosats. For newcomers, Relai app and Pocket bitcoin could be the most user-friendly resources.

Just in case you friend decides to test Relai App, here‘s a promo code to get a 0.5% reduction in fees.

Hey! Bitcoin kaufen mit Relai dauert 1 Minute und wenn du meinen Code REL174501 benutzt, werden deine Gebühren um 0,5% reduziert! 😎

Lade die App hier herunter

There’s also this dude from Russia who sells bitcoin almost premium-free 24/7. If only I could pay him with the methods he wants…
