I continue to use nostr to flesh out ideas in real time. For a while this has been the case, but I want to express the following.

If I’m being intellectually honest, I can’t call myself a progressive anymore.

Labels (such as that one) are tools. When a tool no longer describes your thinking, you don’t owe it loyalty. I don’t fit with that group anymore. I’m more in the left libertarian/anarchism camp for sure. And the modern progressive movement has gone far more faith in technocratic regulation, redistribution via bureaucracy, “expert”-driven solutions, moral language without material empowerment, than ever before. I don’t believe in its solutions, or its leaders. Progressives used to be hyper focused on anti-war, occupy, and suspicion of concentrated power. Now it’s like the opposite.

For the record, I didn’t move right, I didn’t stop caring. I just stopped outsourcing my ethics and what I’m supposed to say or believe to institutions I no longer trust. I think more of us should do this, whether the “right” or the “left.”

That’s not regression imo, that’s maturity and following my intuitions as I navigate life and its social complexities.

Nostr is also full of people. People will disappoint you. Adjust your expectations (better yet, don't have any).

Disagree? The United States is arguably a pretty successful multicultural country, and always has been.

On Fuentes, in his own words: "Blacks need to be imprisoned for the most part, and we would live in paradise ... White men need to run the household, they need to run the country, they need to run the companies."

I mean, that's pretty clearly white nationalism/ white supremacy... Agree or disagree?

Seems like a lot of ad hoc attacks here versus ideas. Pretty disappointing considering what I expect the crowd on NOSTR to be. Through millions of words and thousands of hours of talking, to say “he’s a Nazi!” is pretty unintelligent IMO. One of the main messages that I’ve heard from Nick is multi-cultural nations work worse than more homogeneous nations. Agree or disagree?

It has become so weird that the US Right supports Israel’s war on Palestine while the US Left supports Ukraine’s defense against Russia.

Political sides dig in. The wars become associated with culture.

There is so little voice today from those who oppose aggression. Those who support Jews but are not onboard with Israel’s actions against Palestinians. Those who support Ukrainian independence but don’t want to commit unlimited troops for border regions that literally speak Russian amid a complicated history.

More people die in Sudan and Cambodia than Israel/Palestine, but we are all focused on Israel/Palestine because it’s a conflict of cultures. Religious cultures but also western imperialism vs the global south. The focus of it all. That occupies our attention even as bigger massacres occur elsewhere that aren’t directly across these massive fault lines.

I refuse to engage in attention whoring. I support peace in most instances globally, other than total war against someone’s existence where it becomes right to fight back. People have a right to self-defense. And those who have power over others have a responsibility to hold back on using it fully.

Keep in mind that at any moment, tons of violence is occurring globally. The media directs you to a subset of it that is geographically, economically, or culturally relevant for their purposes. You ignore or are unaware of the rest, and get emotional about what is fed to you. That’s how most people act, anyway.

Nice to see they’re doing their research but their conclusions are off. Small steps.

Resetting my circadian rhythm after a week in Riga with early morning sun exposure and a proper ocean dip. I feel awesome right now.

Raspberry pick for the day 1pound 6 ounces. I get about that every other day. It is a 30 foot bed. I’m on week three of picking, my guess from what is on there probably have two more good weeks. After that a significant decline in the pickings. What I wonder is this good amount to expect? Anyways, I am expending the row to 60 feet for next year. Started working on it today. Fall might be early. If we get another good rain mushroom season is going to be excellent. I will do some scouting next week. I bet the lobsters will be starting.
