Thinking a lot about what’s going on with Nick Fuentes and the cultural meaning.

Posted this to Twitter, thoughts?

“Nick Fuentes represents 4chan escaping containment.

The anonymous speech factory now has a face and the regime (including you @piersmorgan) are not ready for it.”

Yeah I’d say in general 90% of the mainstream is not ready for what’s been building on the far left and far right, both in terms of media and real world political implications

IDK, these are all pretty old ideas... Racist nationalism on the one end, communism on the other. They've both been in thoroughly refuted.

If anything it gets easier with characters like Nick Fuentes, because he's not trying to hide anything. He's not like Trump where because he's so incoherent, he can be this sort of Rorschach test of "did he actually mean that or not?"

There’s a lot of resentment out there. Americans feel they’ve lost their country. They’ve sent their kids to die in war after war and now they see they’ve been forced to fund a genocide. Every single President they vote in has got them into a new war. Now they’re also seeing the neglect of their own country. The money spent on wars and bailing out the banks should have been spent on roads, railways, schools, healthcare, industries, mining rare earths. Americans are realising their country has been stolen and they’re furious.

Trump's election was 4chan escaping containment.

Nick Fuentez is 4chan attending your dinner party.

Fascinating

the white young man is starting to feel backed into a corner. the pendulum will swing.

He’s Captain Incel

He's voluntarily celibate actually. That what an unmarried catholic usually is.

OK then

You don't know what voluntary means, huh?

Yes, sounds about right.

Not what you asked, but FWIW I think you're off base on your Candace Owens takes, and it's coloring your interpretation of recent Fuentes comments.

But it's been cool to see the direction of your show in general, and I love your growing appreciation for libertarianism and the Austrian economists!

First, screw X

But yeah "aren't ready for it"? He's a pretty virulent white sepremacist. IDK if there's a broad swath of the American populace who's like "yeah that's my boy!"

"White Supremacist" is a construct by shape-shifting Jews who are the actual supremacists.

lol ok buddy

I'd assume that's sarcasm but you never know around here...

Fuck off jew.

muted

You haven't noticed yet.

Seems like a lot of ad hoc attacks here versus ideas. Pretty disappointing considering what I expect the crowd on NOSTR to be. Through millions of words and thousands of hours of talking, to say “he’s a Nazi!” is pretty unintelligent IMO. One of the main messages that I’ve heard from Nick is multi-cultural nations work worse than more homogeneous nations. Agree or disagree?

*ad hominem

Disagree? The United States is arguably a pretty successful multicultural country, and always has been.

On Fuentes, in his own words: "Blacks need to be imprisoned for the most part, and we would live in paradise ... White men need to run the household, they need to run the country, they need to run the companies."

I mean, that's pretty clearly white nationalism/ white supremacy... Agree or disagree?

Can you point me to where you pulled those two sentences from? Would love to hear the thousands of words on either side of them, a nuanced conversation around what he means by white nationalism? I have pretty limited exposure to his POV (just recent Tucker and Dave Smith conversations). I’m more saying pulling a couple of sentences out from millions of words of nuanced conversation to form an opinion is less productive than long form conversation around areas of disagreement. Social media isn’t a great format for this IMO. Also, with limited time on our hands, I prefer spending 20 hours on a deep dive with Darryl Cooper or a Guy Swann rant.

I can pick a million other quotes. I don't think there's any way in which this comes up just in "normal discourse".

Dude, I get it that the Left has frequently been the "boy who cried wolf" when it comes to calling people Nazis or whatever.

But that doesn't mean that there aren't actual people spreading these ideas. And this guy is 100% one of them.

Totally agree with you.

Sound bites form most people’s opinions these days.

Watched Fuentes on Dave Smith and Tucker, realized I didn’t really know anything about him.

Nostr is also full of people. People will disappoint you. Adjust your expectations (better yet, don't have any).

Well said.

🤔

The normalcy bias continues. We're quite cooked.

I avoid subjects that feel like intentional cultural reprogramming. I think they want people thinking about this dude so I don’t think about him at all.

The socials are just opt-in spam now. Like a Hotmail inbox out of control.

The failure to recognise it is the most staggering to me; the unimportant and the deranged is given as much airtime and credibility as the critical and profound.

This is because the old guard have totally lost control and has resorted to simply reading the internet to the elderly.

When we look up from our phones and disregard the spam, signal will cut through.

i agree, peter

Before analogizing Nick to 4Chan, I humbly recommend watching Steven Crowder interview him.
