Privacy by default would be better indeed, but Lightning offers already pretty good privacy for the average honest user (not to protect again states spies though)
Lightning still need to be improved for sure but eventually it will be good enough, but you are right a soft fork for convenants could maybe help to build better L2s.
The dynamic block size of Monero doesn’t solve everything, at the end it still relies on a fee market to avoid spam so in case of mass usage, L2 would be needed anyway. For the moment it’s still cheap because pretty unused (1 tx every 3 sec…) but don’t believe that Monero is perfect

I really think that they will have to be really careful with their moves when trying to take the control of Bitcoin.
Blackrock can't take the risk to rekt its customer while choosing the wrong fork etc...Selling ETFs doesn't create more BItcoin users, therefore it does not give you much weight in the debate
So yeah they will surely try to influence the debate, to pay some drivechains influencers and other zealots and idiots, and it will surely make some damages, maybe big ones.

Lots of different metals could have been used instead of gold as money (platinium, palladium etc) but gold won everywhere on earth for some reasons, timing reason mostly (to costly to extract back in the day etc...)
Monero may have the required quality to be a good money but it's not perfect either, and it already lost the race against #Bitcoin IMO (again a timing and network effect issue)

Yes I understand broadly how it works, but the point was just to say that this mix did not actually made 610 BTC "anonymous with a single tx", it's much less.
Many more rounds are needed to achieve acceptable privacy for these big amounts break enough links and achieving a big enough anonset.
Without even speaking of the fees:
- 0,3% coordinator for Wasabi which is roughly 1,33 BTC to mix these 442 coins
- 13 tx0 costing each 0,0175 BTC paid to Whirlpool coordinator, for a total of 0,23 BTC to mix these coins
Mining fees are likely to be higher for the 884 UTXO created in Whirlpool but even considering 20000 sats mining fees/utxo, it's still 3X cheaper to use Whirlpool, and the anonset we obtain is easily calculated, meaning we know much better what we've paid for compared to the strange anon score of Wasabi.
I really struggle to understand the Wasabi bros which are good dudes most of the time, but concerning coinjoins there is no match...

I really think it will never happen cause Monero bros seem to dislike nostr for some (relatively good) reasons. Basically they think the censorship resistant will fade with time as relays will themselves be held by big tech
I think that the important point is that it’s an open protocol, anyone can easily run a relay, and anyone can choose from which relay to read so it‘s still a mich. ether alternative to everything that already exist today.
Nobody needs to let anyone put anything in nostr no ? It's FOSS so Monero bros can fork it then build their own client whenever they want...
