Thanks for the digging but I don't have any funds to redeem on-chain, just 14 SATs remaining in the channel created initially.
It's more about the why to the same seed is providing 2 different node ID/pubkey.
when you use phoenixd then you need to refer to how phoenixd works: https://phoenix.acinq.co/
phoenixd writes some data that contains the seed and channel data.
Alby Hub is just using the phoneixd API - it can not know anything about the seed or similar. That's the same when you use LND.
In those cases Alby Hub just does API calls to those services.
I think Phoenixd is a bit different to the phoneix mobile app but I don't know the details. You best need to talk to ACINQ and their support for more clarity.
We have some scripts to install phoneixd but for support and details about phoenixd one has to talk to acinq.
Thanks I understand better and better. Maybe I didn’t backup the channel state.
Still it’s strange that when I do the I initial « basic » set up of the Phoenixd app, I don’t get exactly the same UI/UX and not the same pubkey, than when I restore from seed.
For example in the initial set up the first sats received were deduced from my balance as an upfront payment, as phoenixd is suppose to work no problem.
Now when I restore with the same seed, the pubkey is different and the Ui also, as I now have to open a channel first manually, before being able to receive the first payment.
Is it also on the ACINQ side this difference in UI/UX depending on if you set up for the 1st tile or restore from seed ?
Thank you very much
Honestly Umbrel's Home server is cheap as fuck and do a great job.
You are technical guy though so you may prefer a custom nuc or mini pc to do your shit.
But Umbrel Home is really good IMO even if the fact that it's running only behind tor is tricky for non tech guys like me. But otherwise it's great
Not exactly. Phoenix Wallet app on mobile, can be restored with only your seed phrase. ACINQ keeps a copy of your channel state for you and this is how you can go back as usual even if you delete your app or lose your phone.
For "Alby with Phoenixd" on the other hand you can't have your seed easily shown to back it up some reason. So you have to command line into the Phoenixd files of the Ulbrel to find the .dat seed file.
I did it, and then tried to restore from seed in the "Albyhub with Phoenixd" app, to see if like for Phoenix Wallet , my funds will magically be back thanks to ACINQ backend.
But not only did I lose my 14 SATs left and my channel, but the node which was set up was a different one, with another pubkey so it's kind of shady how it works for me...
If nostr:nprofile1qqsrxra3gv0lnkxz2pcxh0xuq9k4f9dr7azwq3aypqtnay4w0mjzmtqpr3mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmqpzamhxue69uhkzarvv9ejumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucunm6wg can once again enlighten me it would be nice 🙂
Ok I see.
Still in the LND node app that Umbrel provides , we can easily backup our seed words and the .scb file for the channel.
It would be perfect to have the same UX experience for the Albyhub with Phoenixd app, even if I understand that it's not possible for some technical reason.
In the case of Phoenixd I guess the seed words would be enough as it is all we need to recover a Phoenix Wallet.
My quest now is to be able to find my private key for my Phoenixd node, and back it up. But it's a shame that for such a great app designed for non technical people, to have to go through this process IMO
Yep just testing it for zaps and some tests. It works great I feel it's the future of running a LN non routing node for "normal" people. But the phoenixd part is still shady in my mind.
I have absolutely no idea.
Usually this file is made available easily in these kind of apps for noobs (that I am btw) directly in the settings with some kinds of warning or something.
Here I have nothing, this is why I try to understand how it works before using it more extensively.
I asked nostr:npub1xv8mzscll8vvy5rsdw7dcqtd2j268a6yupr6gzqh86f2ulhy9kkqmclk3x in an other note to explain it, hope he will see it.
Of course. Time scarcity is the only reason human action exists. We act because we are mortals. An immortal being would certainly not act at all, why would he, for what ? Which is by the way a good argument to oppose to god existence if we assume it is an almighty immortal thing
I feel I'm potentially really bullish on AlbyHub, but I strugle to understand what it is exactly. For example I installed AlbyHub with Phoenixd on my Umbrel, but I'm not sure about who/where runs the Phoenixd node as I have nothing to backup out of a password for the app.
A bit confusing. I guess I'm running a Phoenixd node alongside a LND node on my Umbrel Server, but I'm still not sure lol
"AI" is just, like any other groundbreaking tech, another productivity enhancing tool.
Machines will never replace us, let's not be the Luddites of the past.
Me and the boys stacking cheap sats and getting ready for the #Bitcoin god candle. https://video.nostr.build/bd199b6f63090e3bb7471322aa595298bd845e2e6709189dee86ca4a68740074.mp4
Maybe still one year to go who knows, or more with pain in between.
1year and a half between 2016 halving and 2017 bull run so...would be good for stackers.
Just tried the nostr:npub12ctjk5lhxp6sks8x83gpk9sx3hvk5fz70uz4ze6uplkfs9lwjmsq2rc5ky “push tx” feature with the Coldcard Q, and it’s a banger. You just need a VPN to use this as you are not broadcasting through your own node, but it makes the signing in airgaped mode much more seamless
For txs where privacy is not life and death matter it’s perfect.
One common complaint we hear from Nostr haters is that there is no economic incentive to run relays or that the network will be centralized in a few central big relays. These claims often come from confusion or misunderstandings.
I think this 40s video will clear all the matters and answer all the criticisms: https://cdn.satellite.earth/8e48f90f4889d6d8def300e9d843b9b353375426212f6b6253a8ee6aaaefcf07.mp4
If anyone doesn't understand or has a problem with this answer, please, I would like to hear it.
I'm not a tech guy, but hearing this might look like you are saying that the Web is starting to be rebuilt on stonger foundation than 30 years ago.
Like I listened to a podcast with Jack explaining that what once screwed up the legacy web was the discoverability issue leading to Google&Co
So are you basically saying that nostr fixes this? Seems to good to be true, this why their are still lots of nostr sceptics/hate IMO
Maybe yes but still the funds are not lost, Alby provide clear explanation on what is happening so it's not a no go for me, even if the tech is not mature yet
Force close are a big problem in LN, but it's part of the equation sadly.
And Alby is doing a great job at explaining it IMO, not a very big deal.
I hope it will improve with time for LN to become more attractive for sovereign LN users
I am so bullish on nostr:nprofile1qqsfv596hq3r0hpzdqc60d0xft2qrq80wxh8304pz53324mwd0q8y3cpzfmhxue69uhhqatjwpkx2urpvuhx2ucprfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezumt9wdekzem9wp6hx6pwd9hszymhwden5te0wfjkcctev93xcefwdaexwu2a3ew you guys. It makes me dream.
I haven't feelen this bullish since I read the Bitcoin standard in 2018.
I believe it will become THE best store in Paris. It HAS to. There's no second best. It's Bitcoin and Bitcoin does NOT lose.
Bitcoin will become the most prosperous store of Paris and I'm going to do everything I can to help make it happen.
I believe in nostr:nprofile1qqsqcf8rydfz3ulw2d5af29yd65j72834qundhnp4345qq75qdzdggspzamhxue69uhkzarvv9ejumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctctyh3ur because he had the balls to take a risk. To approach me, ask for a deal and conclude within 2 days with just a few dm's.
He is NOT fucking around. This motherfucker is actually going to do this.
🤣🤣🤣 not this exactly it’s much more modest and made of odds and ends, but eventually it will upgrade if sats are flowing in my direction, and not in the opposite direction like now 😂
Their is no such a thing as "not enough money" as long as it's divisible enough.
The security argument is debatable and suppose that it will never be used which is a shame, but the quantity argument is irrelevant.
Now, let's say security is not an issue anymore because Monero is used and fees are ok.
What would be the interest for anyone to hold something that is diluted (even a little) vs holding a forked coin that do the exact same thing but is not diluted ?
It seems to me that either Monero is worthless either tail emissions is useless
