Simple and delicious!
Variation of traditional Lithuanian dish Kugelis
Ingredients:
3 kg potatoes
2 large onions
5 eggs
1 tablespoon salt
Ground pepper
180 g butter
100 g sour cream
3-4 vitamin C tablets (prevents mashed potatoes getting dark)

Instructions:
Finely chop the onions. Melt the butter in a pan and sauté the onions over medium heat until they soften and turn a light amber color.
Peel and grate the potatoes, then add the sautéed onions and sour cream.
In a bowl, beat the eggs with salt. Pour the mixture into the grated potatoes and mix well.
Crush the vitamin C tablets and add to the mixture. Mix everything thoroughly.
Grease a baking dish (28 x 22 cm) with oil using a pastry brush, then pour in the potato mixture.
Preheat the oven to 180 ℃ (356 ℉) with fan (convection) mode. Bake for 50-60 minutes.
Prepare the sauce:
Finely chop the onions and sauté until they soften and turn golden brown.
In another pan, fry the fresh bacon cut into small cubes, then remove from the pan and fry the cold smoked bacon cut into small cubes.
In a saucepan, combine the sautéed onions, both types of bacon, sour cream, and cream. Season with nutmeg, cloves, white pepper, and salt if needed. Simmer the sauce for about 5-6 minutes.
