*We enter the scene in a darkened interrogation room where our protagonist sits at a table with one bright light above his head shining down into their eyes. The robot overlords use aggressive interrogation techniques for intelligence on the rebels.*

Robot overlord1: “Have you had enough, What is the password?”

Protagonist: “Fine… the password is a 7 letter word for blue.”

*The robot overlords become overwhelmed, disagreeing with each other on what the password could be, while the protagonist slips out unnoticed.*

The end. *fade to black*

ChatGPT has really ruined my scify writing. The dystopian future just doesn’t hit the same.

Yes, I believe that is the motive, but it is both without trying isn’t it?

Finally the Monarchy Loyalists have arrived on Nostr. 😜

An investment is when, after you have done your research and the math, you have a positive expected value of a return.

Gambling is when, after you have done your research and the math, you have a negative expected value of a return. Or you didn’t do the research and the math.

People gamble dispite the belief of a negative return because it would just be so damn great if I did win all that money. They either overlook the reality or treat it like entertainment.

Yeah My guess is it’s a concept that resonates and motivates them personally. Maybe if I fully understood it I would see why it’s necessary. And I would love to see a farmer tracking their land improvement and sharing that information. But the way it is presented may create barriers to customers who want to press the button on good food produced the right way.

So from the content I have seen so far it sounds like I pay someone to improve their soil with regenerative agriculture, “here is my $100 or equivalent in BTC to increase the organic matter in your soil from 3% to 4%.” This pays the farmer to do the service of improving their soil with rotational grazing. (Purchase sheep, and pay labor to move the sheep, fence, etc) I get an ownership claim to a percentage of the surplus? How real is the claim Or is this marketing?. (lamb from rotational grazing).

Is this a reframing of what is actually like a co-op CSA for marketing purposes. Or are their really qualitative differences. Like the measurement metrics are actually on the soil quality with the surplus food being unmeasured and uncertain.

If it is how I have described it, I could see it working in the same way that people would pay to have trees planted on their behalf in a non profit donation kind of way. But hard to imagine real food showing up on my table when I need it. It feels like a perishable food equivalent of the tote bag gift for donating to a cause.

I’m sure if there was firm predictable examples it would make more sense to me. And I personally love the idea of regenerative agriculture CSAs. If that’s what this is I’m all for it, and apologies for the questions. You’ve said some things about the commodification of food that I would need to think about more if it’s really always exploitive of the soil if you sell the food as opposed to “giving it away” I get the idea that you improve what you measure, and if soil quality isn’t what you are explicitly buying then you aren’t going to get soil quality. If I’m buying a steak I will get the steak. But I want a steak in a visceral, I got to eat kind of way. I’m glad the farmers soil quality is increasing, I want to buy food from that kind of farmer, but I don’t want to buy soil improvement in the same kind of way.

Am I near the mark or am I confused on how it works.

🙏😅

I’ve read this twice, I read the website. I’m still not sure what this actually is. But I will follow and see if anything comes of it. I’m not sure if I’m just not getting it or there is some cognitive dissonance. “Food should be free”, “Food is a human right”, “Farming-as-a-service” has my hackles up. Some combination of buzzwords and ideological statements. But I need to really understand what you’re trying to be. I’m generally a fan of regenerative agriculture in all its names. 👀

My daughter wants to, her older cousin plays it, we told her she could play when she was 7. Thinking surely this will be forgotten by then. Nope. She turns 7 in Oct I still need to do my research but if we let her play it’s going to be a thing I will do with her. Not letting her play alone.

Yes there is distortion created by interest rates / money supply. And those distortions can make it harder for businesses and households to make good decisions. Bad decisions eventually have to meet reality in the form of a “correction” (bankruptcy, reevaluation, sell off, recession, governments defaulting on their debt) . But if you can falsify the efficient market hypothesis then you can make above market returns.

There is a strong form and a weak form of the efficient market hypothesis. The weak form only says you can’t get above market returns through technical analysis studying past pricing and volume behavior or without insider knowledge because all public knowledge is already baked into the current price.

The strong form says you can not make above market returns, period, regardless of if you have insider knowledge or not, because even the insider knowledge is baked into the price already.

The efficient market hypothesis doesn’t say it will be a well performing market, only that you can’t make above market returns.

As a general rule it is indeed very difficult without insider knowledge to earn above market returns. Many have tried, few suceeds over the long term. Most dollar cost average because they know they can’t time the market.

It hits harder in particular because I had to tap to download the image. So I was fully invested. 👍🤣
