In order for a seller to *BE* a seller there must also must *BE* a buyer. Therefore, in truth they must always come in pairs.

In fact everything, is neither art nor science, it’s all just brute force experimentation and the replication of what works.

I assume it comes from a place where you see content that has DRM is the big nameless guy, and the content without DRM lacks the resources to DRM it so you feel worse in that scenario. Because it’s not like you would feel ok about breaking into someone’s house that is protected by locks and a security system compared to breaking into someone’s house who had their doors unlocked, or would you? My personal opinion is that our intuitive sense of right and wrong is wetware not meant or usefully applied in the situations where you don’t have a daily personal relationship between the actors. And in particular the concept of ā€œstealingā€ something from someone where it leaves them without the stolen thing is not correct to apply when the stealing leaves the person stolen from, no worse off. *My copying of the DVD you purchased does not separate you from the DVD* and taking others ideas and replicating them is called learning and as members of the human species we were meant to express ideas to each other in the form of stories and culture to survive. I’m not convinced I have an intuitive feeling of right and wrong when it comes to ā€œpiracyā€. There may be economic arguments for why we should have piracy laws to incentivize the content, or DRM technology to exclude not payers, but I’m not convinced it’s wrong in a moral sense.

Where does this end? Elite athletes probably have specific genes which helps with sorting out athletic ability, reaction time, height, muscle building, endurance. Biologically abnormal just means more than average by some amount. Where do they land on the bell curve. Where do you make the cutoff? Unless she wins the gold is there even an argument to be made that it gives her unfair advantages? And even if she does win the gold then you have to determine whether the advantage she has is abnormal enough to disqualify her from competing.

Short answer: Claims made without evidence can be discounted with the same. The test was never released so I would ask you the same, what insider information do you have.

Long answer: The article has multiple points where it suggests that the test which was performed was not genetic but hormonal. Even with the results unreleased after disqualification suggests suspicious motive or results where is the transparency, other sources say as much. Which is why I wrote that she may have elevated testosterone. But Higher than typical testosterone isn’t evidence of chromosomes. Could be caused by a number of things. And it is at this point where it’s clear there isn’t really evidence of the controversy that’s been made with a number of possible explanations which are reasonable.

I’m sorry you were led to believe she was born male. She did not. This is not the controversy you are looking for.

So Imane Khalif was born a woman, raised as a woman, and competed as a woman. From reading a few articles She may have some biologically abnormal capabilities that results in higher testosterone than typical for a woman. (Intersex or something else… not sure it’s any of my business to know her medical history) Wait…you mean an Olympic athlete may have some genetic capacity higher than average? šŸ™„It’s also not clear to me she is even considered an elite athlete that will achieve a medal?, suggesting it’s not clear there was any advantage she would possess over a typical woman trying to compete but we can just observe on that one.

I’m not sure how far I want to go with this.

So seems like a lot of people jumped to conclusions.

And I hope the internet has learned a valuable lesson about the complexities of human biology. 🤨

I’m curious what other female athletes would think of punching a competitor so hard they yield, and instead of celebrating the athletic accomplishment the internet goes sideways. Oh I guess she just hits hard, good for her. šŸ‘

I would not be surprised to find many women competing at high levels of athleticism have a distribution of testosterone higher than typical, Either just within normal biology distribution or because something undiagnosed exists.

If that’s how they are born I think they should be able to use it to their advantage.

My app says Ipomoea hederacea but that agrees it is a type of morning glory if not the exact species.

If you have pictures of the flowers that may further restrict the possibilities.

humans contort themselves into uncomfortable practices so they can scale what they are doing. I’ve got a small sci-fi idea where humans build cities to facilitate the use of AI robots to navigate a simplified world and do work so everyone can have a life of leasure, but the result is that that the city is made for robots not for humans. Which is actually distressing and alienating to the humans. It’s a standard cog in the wheel idea. Bureaucracies do this as well with policies. Any standardization does this. And fundamentally it’s inhuman.

Likely is you just miss their posts in time. When the client opens it’s not going to download all content from the beginning of time or since you last opened because that would download too much , it would be like syncing a node. So it’s just going to get the last day or last hour and then stay current until you close the client again. Some clients / services are now introducing techniques and algorithms for this use case. I recommend using the Nostur client nostr:npub1n0stur7q092gyverzc2wfc00e8egkrdnnqq3alhv7p072u89m5es5mk6h0 . It implements Web of Trust which would eliminate your hashtag spam. And it also has a bell notification on profiles you can select so whenever an npub posts that you have ā€œsubscribedā€ to you will get an alert. You can also make custom feeds for specific group of people so it shortcuts what you are doing now, you could put all the people you are having trouble seeing and put them in a single feed. I’d try those things.

If you use a client that implements web of trust you would never see the bot spam because you are not following the npubs and who you follow is not following those npubs.

I will check it out

10 Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. 11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, ā€œAbraham, Abraham!ā€ And he said, ā€œHere I am.ā€ 12 He said, ā€œDo not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him, for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.ā€

I think the plain reading of the text is clear. I think it’s human to put effort into explaining away the messy implications than directly wrestling with them. But I think it’s worth wrestling with. Kierkegaard’s ā€œFear and Tremblingā€ is worth it in my opinion.

There is more to be said but I’ll leave it short. GM

Just how Twitter, YouTube, fedi, etc. can’t take your follows or followers with you outside of each respective universe. Each implementation of a social graph is closed in and not transportable. I’m Not super familiar with fedi, my guess is you can transport those things between fedi servers but it requires effort and maybe cooperation?

But the pain of starting anew makes the users ā€œstickyā€ less likely to move. Nostr social graph is easily portable between relays, though the whole thing is experimental. But still it’s not like I can bring all my follows with me to fedi or Twitter or YouTube either.
