I feel like COVID-19 is just another blip in the long history of plagues and outbreaks that the world has experienced since its existence. I know many people on nostr will disagree with me though.

Immigrants have their own biases too. Sadly, the various -isms in the US and/or other Western countries only helps reinforce those prejudices. Plus, you can’t forget about self-hatred. I also think that there’s an aspect of adopting xenophobic/racist beliefs of their new country as a way to subconsciously align themselves with the perceived power structure and to quickly assimilate.
People are cooking at home more often due to inflation, and therefore, purchasing more spices and herbs. At least, that’s my theory 😂.
