I have come to realize most of my dissatisfaction in life comes from focusing on what I don’t have rather than enjoying the blessings that are already in my life. I find reminding myself that I have everything that I need and many of the things that I want always lifts my mood and brings contentment. I am trying to get over my urge to want more and more and more and to finally learn happiness and contentment cannot be bought.
Yeah, he’s been through an ordeal. If I were in his shoes, I would fade into oblivion and focus on my family and recovering.

I hope Julian Assange’s release truly revives the conversation about how we can protect freedom of press and whistleblowers. Sometimes holding the government accountable requires exposing its secrets. Individuals deserve to know when their governments are violating human rights or not working in their best interests. Individuals also have the right to confront their governments about those issues and demand change. We have to work hard to ensure that the events surrounding Julian Assange (and Edward Snowden) do not just become a footnote history but actually lead to new policies/laws that protect individuals who speak out their governments.

Yes, these those things can take you far. However, I do think government surveillance agencies are equally aware of these strategies and work overtime to find new ways to circumvent them. This is what I had in mind when I made comment.

Nothing is private. There are no secrets. Technology has advanced too far. Don’t say or do anything online that you wouldn’t want the whole world to know about.
For me, the focus should be on making sure there are strong limitations on how governments can collect, store, and use the information of private citizens.

I’ve been zapping profiles and not comments since I updated the app. I don’t see a zap button on posts anymore, and I don’t have the energy to figure out how to directly zap posts with the new update. A zap is a zap. Be grateful that you are getting any. I’m not losing sleep over the fact people didn’t zap my post or profile $0.001, and zaps are certainly not the reason why I keep using nostr.
I need to spend $5000 by June 15th. It’s part of a slush fund that we get every year. It goes back to the government if we don’t spend it. It would be an opportunity to get a really nice desktop that could do some light machine learning too. We have access to a cluster for the big stuff.
However, the lab I’m joining prefers Apple, so I ended up just getting a Mac Studio with the highest specs. A Mac Pro wasn’t an option since they start at $7000.

I was wondering whether folks had any recommendations for companies doing custom builds or for mass market options (eg Lenovo, HP).
