Big Barry Bitcoin - Bitcoiner, pleb, developer, enthusiast, 👎💩coins Check out my nostr blog! https://big-barry-bitcoin.npub.pro/

Bitcoin leaves a trace on the blockchain.

Lightning reveals the recipients node to the sender.

Whether you use TOR or not.

------

Each ecash is a unique never before ever seen file. No traces anywhere. Not even the mint has seen it.

As a SENDER, you could keep yourself completely anonymous and the recipient can still accept payment by taking the received ecash to the mint. The mint has no idea where the ecash came from.

A sender could leave ecash to find in a treasure hunt. As a RECIPIENT, you could find ecash anywhere and claim it. The sender would have no idea who claimed it, you dont reveal any node ids or anything, and the mint knows nothing about you either if you use TOR/VPN.

These are the benefits. With a normal custodian, you have an account. Whether they have PII or not, they know of a user with a specific balance, they know about each incoming payment: the amount, the time, the memo, and they know of each outgoing payment: the destination, the amount, the memo, the time, and your user id.

If you don't see the benefits, I give up.

No body has ONLY enough time to think about paying the next bill, but some will focus on enriching their happiness, culture, art, sports.

Sometimes they get smart at useless stuff like getting likes on twitter, or maybe it's money making like getting good at taking pictures for only fans.

Whatever it is, they are invested in that and it is only when your topics creep into their realities or interests that they'll entertain you.

Reflect and understand that we are all NPCs in something. We cannot be fully aware of everything, fully questioning and knowledgeable. We are human.

They will have knowledge in something that you don't care so much about and refuse to take an interest in, while they may think it is super important to understand.

We are all geniuses in some things and dumb asses in other things. We evolve by working together.

1. They can correlate tokens and what they pay for, but not you. It's like tying payments to bank notes and not the bank account it came from. They have no idea when you got the token you are using to spend, who you are, or even how you got it.

2. Backups are smart. You get 12 words and from that we can deterministically derive a bunch of token ids but these ids are effectively random to anyone else but you who has the key to understand it is a pattern. My point is that they don't know which backups are for you or for someone else so it doesn't tie your identity or your wallet together. This one I need to read a bit more into to be 100% sure.

3. Ecash mints have to support lightning otherwise they're not really ecash mints (well I'm thinking cashu specifically). If you want any privacy, you can't just expect someone else to do everything for you. There is state, but it's not that much, I have had to restore a minibits wallet and although the UX could be better, it didn't require much from me other than 12 words.

4. It is not far from anonymous. It is actually almost perfect privacy TM.

I found it easy enough, but the inability to resize the window and even run in full screen threw me off so far.

I've only used the isolated browser so far.

Who gives a shit about Satoshi's vision? This is the same shit that lead to Craig Wrong simps and... Fucking Bitcoin SV!

People, businesses, organisations, evil societies, they can all do whatever the fuck they want with it. We just gotta preach the good word and let people understand that direct ownership is available now and the convenience of custodial services come with tradeoffs.

People will ignore us, think us stupid and when they get burnt, they will resist the obvious truth until they are ready.

People who talk about Satoshi's vision sound like pansies who want to tell people how things should be rather than being the change they want to see.

YES!

I've been seeing so many recommending it even recently and when I mention this, I get no replies.

I bit the bullet and I'm experimenting with https://simplifiedprivacy.com/vpn-install/easy-one-command.html

But it feels like I'm just playing whack-a-mole and I don't think this has a smartphone solution.

#Nostr talks a lot about diverse talking points and having people challenge us, but I don't think we've really had diverse conversions on nostr and I think it's coming.

It will very likely be messy, it might drive people away, it might turn into communities, it might turn into private spaces.

I just hope we can all be respectful and tolerant, even amidst the untolerable and the intolerant themselves. Diverse opinions can spark fires, and I think people have been pulled away and isolated for so long, we probably don't realize how extreme our beliefs might be.

For example, I think a lot of people have hate in their heart because they are consumed by politics and they invested a lot of time hating the Donald. There are a lot of people here who support Trump, and who are reportedly indifferent.

Nostr has already evolved so much from when I first joined, it has news, it has non bitcoin content like Linux and GrapheneOS, it has GMs, and I'm looking forward to see how Nostr evolves in the bear future.

He asked her if she was the prettiest person in the world and she said no herself.

"If I kissed you would I get a million dollars?"

It was a TV series. It's like the origin story of his, he grew up poor and ended up working for mafia but he was always underestimated.

I don't really recall ever knowing Penguin's origin story, but I would have thought he came from a wealthy family but was outcast or something like that.

Just post GM every morning and if you feel like it, add a thought or a picture of something.

🫂

Actually I was already pontificating on a related topic. I just published my article.

In a nutshell (okay, let's try this and keep it short... 😮‍💨)

Bitcoin is the discovery of a set of rules and incentives paired with cryptographic technologies that enable it to produce a set of records that is protected directly by time and energy.

It comes with units that are treated as monetary units and its use as part of the incentive mechanism makes it just as important as everything else. This is why it cannot be repurposed for other non-monetary purposes.

The rule is that the set of records with the most amount of time and effort invested into it is the truth. This is why other proof of work Cryptos cannot compete and without proof of work, the rest of them are hardly revolutionary and actually reinvent fiat money with extra steps.

Bitcoin was developed off the backs of many years of research and development and failed attempts, but it hit the sweet spot. It will not just go away and with its hard supply cap and it not being comparable to anything else, it is uniquely hard money and it is effectively inevitable to become the next money used around the world.

The only thing that could kill it is an undiscovered but critical bug that can only be fixed by changing one of its core principals, such as its decentralized nature.

So no. I don't think anyone can ever be too late. If the question is am I too late to get ultra rich, maybe, but probably not. But if the question is am I too late to acquire and use better money, the answer is never yes.

Actually, it is precisely because it is never too late to buy bitcoin, that it is not a bubble.
