A business partner of mine lives in Kyiv and just told me they slept one more night in the car in the basement. Stories like these make this awful war and the russian terror against the people so real. I hope they run out of rockets soon. ☹️
We have the tools, we just need to use them: Nostr, Bitcoin & the Internet, as it was 20years ago with your own domain running your own software. The tools have become easier to but most people are still lazy and prefer platforms, linear radio & TV. I have hopes that this is going the change, though very slowly.
On the one hand, there is some truth in it that labels can divide. But on the other hand a lable is just a shortcut. Shortcuts are undeniable important to communication: If you think about the word "ball" you might visualize something completely different than I do. Nevertheless the invention of words (and labels) is very helpful, we could not communicate efficiently without them.
BTW gossip handles this much better (like many things). The hell-thread does not even show up, but I don't know why.
#[1] Do you have some counter-measures against spam threads? We are talking about a recent one with 1000+ mentions. Damus notification view is unusable, gossip keeps it out completely.
def. Something like a default to hide threads with 10+ mentions or a configurable amount.
GM in hell thread II 😩
Why are so man people answering? I don’t get it, is block & ignore so difficult? Why engage?
Quick note for my relay users: #[1]
I deleted the whole db and started afresh. So one can see gossip doing the magic and learning about users & relays. Worthwhile watching! 🤙
I see my own IP in the nginx logs and had no other client running at that time!
#[3] Can you have a look at this nostream issue, please? It seems a request sent by Damus is causing nostream to crash:
Actually it does not make sense to have that many relays. Choose them wisely and only change if really necessary. Clients will remember them easier that way.
I mostly chose them because of low latency hosting in Europe:
1) eden.nostr.land (it was the first, and one server is hosted in Germany)
2) nostr.inosta.cc (hosted in France)
3) nostr.gromeul.eu (hosted in France)
4) at.nostrworks.com (my own relay, hosted in Austria)
Okay, I see. But maybe it is possible to find out which npub is causing it or which client it is?
In any case nostream should not die in such a case. But I suppose this happens inside the ws library, so difficult to fix for your, right?
What debug level would you suggest to track it down? There is an ENV variable, so DEBUG=DEBUG? Or true false, what does it expect?
To relay operators running #nostream: Are you getting those "RSV1 must be clear" errors as well?
I had those errors multiple times a day and had to manually restart the server.

Is the snow already gone or is it an old photo?
