Had anyone dug into the massive surge in nostr account activity over the past 2 weeks?

Looks like 90% of note volume is coming from a new cohort of accounts with zero trust ranking (no connection to the core growth of active users.)

One day, it would be nice to see a well-capitalized challenge to the Bank Secrecy Act on 4th amendment grounds.

The Founding Fathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw that people need a license to transmit money, or that the government thinks it has the right to surveil and censor everyone’s money and transactions.

The default is privacy. To infringe on someone’s privacy should require probable cause and come with checks and balances. Ubiquitous surveillance shouldn’t be the default, since it enables tyranny.

Make it easy to share to other socials. That will help pull people into nostr. Then focus sharing original thoughts on Nostr and nowhere else. Share to other platforms. Highlight parts you find interesting, comment and share out with a direct link to the highlight / note. Make sure it has obvious nostr branding.

I'm not here on Nostr because I run away from Twitter. I'm here because I'm in search for an internet as it once used to be.

I'm a hacker who fucking hates that social media is in the hands of private companies. I remember using IRC and meeting likeminded anons online. I remember what the internet utopia felt like. People who didn't care what your name or status is, people who aren't interested in sharing their boring holiday pics with random strangers online. I'm not interested in what politicians and influencers have to say. I don't care about the latest mainstream trend that's going viral.

I want random weird interesting smart people around me who share their ideas in a free and open space that isn't controlled by anyone.

That's all I'm looking for. There aren't many such spaces on the internet.

Started a chicken coop today out of cattle panels and several bed frames.

It is on a small slope. Carbon and food will get dumped in the top end. Chickens move it downhill. I will occasionally pull material out of the bottom to compost.

My daughter’s class is doing a non-educational, all-day field trip to a place we aren’t thrilled about. We asked if we can just keep her home for the day instead, since all the other kids are getting an excused absence for this trip.

Not only did the school deny our request for an excused absence, they also informed us that if she missed one more day of school this year, it puts her over a threshold and she would need to attend summer school.

My daughter is a straight A student and a president in the student body.
