Introducing Top Zaps
We just released an update to all Primal clients. Youβll notice that we now render several top zaps at the bottom of each note. The top zapper gets their zap message displayed. Brevity is enforced: we only allow room for 4-5 short words. Anyone can zap any note and include any message. Note author can mute abusive users and keep their sats. Letβs see how this goes!
This is great. Zaps are the signal and we should showcase them more so to hammer home this message to help promote Zaps and value for value.

Well now I can see that a large zap I sent yesterday does not appear to have gone through. My primal wallet says it did, but it is not shown beneath the user post.

What is the best way to report/ show issue?
The receiving wallet service needs to publish the receipt for the zap to appear. Can you please DM me so that we can take a closer look?

yes, it's impossible to know how top zaps will actually be used out there in the wild. there is probably a lot we still don't understand about this feature.
but even if some portion of it ends up being an ad space auction, imho that's still very interesting. 100% of the proceeds going directly to the content creator is kinda wild.
top zaps will evolve for sure. we'll just have to observe how they are being used and improve things. the obvious next step is to provide some level of customization to note authors, so they can disable disable this or set threshold amounts. we want to do this in a standard way so all nostr clients can benefit.

How do you add a note to zap besides the old customization way through settings?
I would categorize top zap not as top zap amount, but top zap volume.

good point - even deliberate monetization of the creator's reach is pretty powerful and could be the start of a whole new model. very cool, and pretty mindblowing how much space there is for this type of experimentation with Nostr + zaps.

Nice reintroduction of Zaps (For Apple Users) but how long until they clap down on Primal just like they did with Damus?
Get an Android use #Amethyst and Primal as a secondary option, don't centralize nostr on a few clients wallets and relays.

We display total sats zapped in the reactions section (next to like, repost, etc. buttons). We could prob make this more prominent.
Can the message be muted without the implication that it is 'abusive'? Can the mute be based on poster's preferences / rule based controls? i.e. timeshare, rotation, 'don't show unless '4/25/24 xyz' are included, etc
Note author has complete control when it comes to muting. They can mute whoever they want to mute without providing a reason.
Note that we are simply using nostr's standard NIP-51 mute list for this.

You probably already are working on this but Might I suggest focusing on hashtags page and top notes which you can sort by more time values, like 3 day and week. Just my two #sats

A feature to make the already large accounts even larger, along with those who invest in them. Development is heading in a completely wrong direction.

Hi! A feature suggestion: Stop requesting the public key from the extension all the time, just cache it. The Blockcore Wallet reports whenever the key is used and it could probably be optimized by not requesting this much.
