"Something wicked this way comes"🦑 Apocalypse Anonymous.

There are many Thai dishes made with mango. However, Somtam is made with grated papaya. I can share my recipe ingredients with you here:

The ingredients for som tam, a Thai papaya salad, typically include:

Green papaya: The main ingredient, but cucumber can be used as a substitute

Peanuts: Toasted and sprinkled on top

Palm sugar: Pounded into a paste to dissolve more easily

Lime juice: A key ingredient in the dressing

Fish sauce: A key ingredient in the dressing

Garlic and chilies: Coarsely pounded together with a pestle and mortar

Other ingredients that might be added include:

Snake beans, Pineapple, Tomato wedges, Iceberg lettuce, Dried shrimp, Tamarind juice, and Palm vinegar.

Pam, usually I like to make mine with an added salty egg mixed in ,but there are so many ways to make it. Give it a go , it's fun and easy... Enjoy

Thanks Pam. 🙏 I just researched that book

Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable

Author: Seth Godin

Top Line: Traditional marketing isn’t working anymore. The old virtuous circle of ‘buy ads – get distribution – sell product – buy ads…’ no longer pays.

The solution?

Stop advertising and start innovating.

What you need to build your brand is a remarkable product or service.

Be Remarkable

This cult book on innovation from marketing guru and bestselling author Seth Godin, has a simple message. Be remarkable. Purple Cow argues that the only way to cut the hyper-clutter of products and advertising today is to innovate something new, unique and remarkable – like a purple cow.

Godin points out that 80% of the 30 newest entrants to Interbrand’s top 100 brand list owe their success to word of mouth around what they sell rather advertising clout. Successful brands like IKEA, Starbucks, SAP, Krispy Kreme, Jet Blue, Google are all built on remarkable products that get talked about. Innovation brains, not advertising or distributional muscle is what is needed to succeed in marketing today.

‘Remarkable-ize’ your Brand

Purple Cow is an inspiring self-help book for entrepreneurial marketers who find themselves stewarding big brands where innovation is often no more than me-too copycat cloning. Godin offers practical tips to ‘remarkabalize’ your brand through innovation.

For example, by horizontally integrating innovation – getting stakeholder involvement from the board down to lead buyers – you improve the chances of getting a successful Purple Cow to market. Likewise, by making ‘being remarkable’ a Critical Success Factor for innovation, you get to screen out boring brown cows. Starting up a separate Purple Cow innovation work-stream can free you from the shackles of traditional new product development. And don’t forget to live the Be Remarkable mantra yourself, do one thing worth talking about everyday.

If Purple Cow has a weakness it is that it underestimates the underestimates the power of the Dark Side corporate conservatism. Nobody (yet) got fired for sinking money into advertising sizzle, whether or not there was a (purple) steak worth sizzling in the first place. To remedy this, a follow-up book, ‘The Big Moo’ co-written with Malcolm Gladwell, Tom Peters, and Guy Kawasaki and others, Godin outlines 33 inspiring ideas for remarkabalizing your brand.

What famous older books were written by black people that most people don't realize?

Alexandre Dumas is a good example.

He wrote The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo (amongst others).

He was educated and raised in France to an aristocratic family. He was mixed race. By all accounts he was a very successful man, publishing many works across fiction and non-fiction. He was known for his ability to write across a wide swathe of styles and genres. He was known throughout all of France and the world. His works have been made into many plays and movies.

But despite the many things he accomplished, the respect he garnered, and the immense talent he possessed, he still dealt with racism; some people still couldn’t see past his skin.

In one notable incident, a man insulted him for being of African descent. He responded,

“My father was a mulatto, my grandfather was a Negro, and my great-grandfather a monkey. You see, Sir, my family starts where

yours ends.”

"The Dip": A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick) by Seth Godin explores the concept of knowing when to persist through challenges and when to quit a project or goal. The book provides insights into navigating the tough periods in pursuits and making strategic decisions about whether to continue or change course.

Here are lessons from the book:

1. Understand the Concept of The Dip: The Dip refers to the challenging period in any endeavor when progress seems slow and obstacles feel overwhelming. Recognizing this phase helps in managing expectations and deciding whether to push through or quit.

2. Differentiate Between The Dip and Dead Ends: It's important to distinguish between The Dip (a temporary setback) and a Dead End (a path with no future prospects). Understanding the difference helps in making informed decisions about whether to persist or pivot.

3. Commit to the Right Goals: Focus on goals and projects that align with your strengths and passions. Committing to pursuits that truly matter to you increases the likelihood of enduring through The Dip and achieving success.

4. Embrace the Challenges: Difficulties and setbacks are a natural part of the journey toward success. Embracing and addressing these challenges rather than avoiding them is crucial for achieving long-term goals.

5. Know When to Quit: Quitting is sometimes the best decision, especially if a project or goal is not aligned with your values or is unlikely to lead to success. Recognizing when to quit can free up resources and energy for more promising endeavors.

6. Strategic Persistence: When facing The Dip, strategic persistence involves working through challenges with a clear plan and maintaining focus on long-term objectives. Persistence should be purposeful and not just stubborn.

7. Evaluate Your Commitment: Regularly assess your commitment to your goals and projects. Determine if the effort and resources required to push through The Dip are justified by the potential outcomes.

The Dip encourages readers to critically evaluate their pursuits, understand the nature of challenges, and make strategic decisions about persistence and quitting. By recognizing The Dip and distinguishing it from dead ends, individuals can make more informed choices and increase their chances of achieving meaningful success.

The Ganj Nameh Inscriptions are ancient rock carvings located approximately 12 kilometers southwest of Hamadan, Iran, near Mount Alvand.

They date back to the Achaemenid Empire, around the 5th century BC, and were commissioned by two prominent Persian kings: Darius I (reigned 522-486 BC) and his successor Xerxes I (reigned 486-465 BC). The inscriptions are written in Old Persian, Elamite, and Neo-Babylonian cuneiform scripts.

They convey messages about the kings’ divine authority and the favor of the Zoroastrian god Ahura Mazda. The Inscriptions consist of two distinct panels carved into a granite cliff face. Each panel is roughly square-shaped, measuring about two meters high by one meter wide, and positioned a few meters apart from each other.

Living in the present moment invites us to immerse ourselves fully in the “now,” setting aside preoccupations with the past and anxieties about the future. This mindful approach allows us to observe each moment with openness, fostering acceptance rather than judgment. In embracing life as it unfolds, we find clarity and stillness within, even amid life’s complexities.

The rewards of present-moment awareness are transformative. By relinquishing attachment to past regrets and future worries, we cultivate a sense of calm, focus, and gratitude. Studies show that being present enhances mental resilience and emotional well-being, reducing stress and fostering a profound sense of contentment and connection to our surroundings.

Emotionally intelligent individuals understand this intuitively. They are adept at observing their thoughts and emotions without being overwhelmed by them, which enables them to respond with patience, empathy, and self-awareness. This attunement allows for genuine, thoughtful interactions and strengthens relationships.

"The Diary of a Young Girl" is a poignant and introspective account written by Anne Frank, a Jewish girl, while she and her family were in hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. The diary begins in 1942 when Anne receives it as a birthday present and spans over two years until their hiding place is discovered in 1944.

Anne writes about her experiences, thoughts, and feelings while living in cramped quarters with her family and a few others in a secret annex above her father's office building in Amsterdam. Despite the fear and uncertainty of their situation, Anne remains optimistic and hopeful, expressing her aspirations to become a writer and her belief in the goodness of people.

Throughout the diary, Anne grapples with typical teenage issues such as relationships, identity, and growing up, while also confronting the harsh realities of war and persecution. She develops close bonds with the other inhabitants of the annex, particularly with Peter van Daan, with whom she shares a complex and evolving relationship.

Tragically, in August 1944, the annex is raided by the Gestapo, and Anne, her family, and the others hiding with them are arrested and sent to concentration camps. Anne ultimately dies of typhus in Bergen-Belsen in early 1945, shortly before the camp is liberated by Allied forces.

Anne's diary, preserved by one of the family's helpers, Miep Gies, is published posthumously and has since become a widely read and influential work, offering a personal and intimate perspective on the Holocaust and the resilience of the human spirit.
