According to Dennis Hopper, Marlon Brando yelled at him over a simple misunderstanding on the set of "Apocalypse Now" (1979).

https://youtu.be/GEgG6PvMuzI

Hopper then decided to deliberately antagonize Brando whenever he could. This resulted in Brando refusing to share the set with him, and the one scene they share together being shot on separate nights. So when Kurtz throws the book at Hopper's photojournalist character and calls him a "mutt," one can only assume that was Brando's genuine feelings about him.

The character of the photojournalist was first suggested by unit photographer Chas Gerretsen and Robert Capa, Gold Medal Award winner (1973) during a lunch with Francis Ford Coppola.

During the lunch, they discussed the scene where an American television correspondent (played by Coppola) yells at some passing soldiers, "Don't look at the camera!". Gerretsen suggested that if Coppola wanted to portray the manic side of the press, he should use a photojournalist because, "We were all crazy."

The three black body Nikon F cameras that Hopper's character used, had been used by Gerretsen in Vietnam. He sold the three cameras to Zoetrope Studios after Hopper, who had originally been cast as Captain Colby, became the photojournalist.

Gerretsen used three Nikon F2 cameras and one Leica M4 during the filming. He did not like using blimps (sound boxes) because it prevented him from immediately shooting an image when he saw it (as he had learned as a photojournalist).

Coppola gave him permission to shoot during filming in-between the dialogue (except for Brando's dialogue), a great annoyance to the sound editors, who had to edit out the clicking of the camera.

Although it is said that photojournalist Sean Flynn was the main inspiration for the drug-addled-brave war photographer, the character was largely based on English-born Tim Page. He was regarded by his press friends from that time as one of the craziest and most daring photographers running around between Saigon, May Lay, and Hamburger Hill.

Yes, the Statue of Liberty was originally made of copper, which is why it had a shiny, reddish-brown appearance when it was first built. Over time, however, the copper underwent a natural process called oxidation, where the metal reacts with the air and moisture, forming a greenish layer of copper carbonate (commonly known as patina).

This green color, which we see today, is actually protective, as it prevents the underlying copper from further corrosion. The transformation took several decades, and the Statue's current appearance is due to this slow, natural process that started not long after it was dedicated in 1886. The green color has since become an iconic feature of the statue, symbolizing both its age and its enduring significance as a symbol of freedom and democracy.

Incredible and sustainable.

The Otomi are an Indigenous people of the Americas who inhabit a discontinuous territory in central Mexico.

They are linguistically related to the rest of the Otomanguean-speaking peoples, whose ancestors have occupied the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt for several thousand years.

Currently, the Otomi inhabit a fragmented territory ranging from northern Guanajuato, to eastern Michoacán and southeastern Tlaxcala. However, most of them are concentrated in the states of Hidalgo, Mexico and Querétaro. According to the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples of Mexico, the Otomi ethnic group totaled 667,038 people in the Mexican Republic in 2015,making them the fifth largest indigenous people in the country.

Of these, only a little more than half spoke Otomi. In this regard, the Otomi language presents a high degree of internal diversification, so that speakers of one variety often have difficulty understanding those who speak another language.

Hence, the names by which the Otomi call themselves are numerous: ñätho (Toluca Valley), hñähñu (Mezquital Valley), ñäñho (Santiago Mexquititlán in southern Querétaro) and ñ'yühü (Northern highlands of Puebla, Pahuatlán) are some of the names the Otomi use to refer to themselves in their own languages, although it is common that, when speaking in Spanish, they use the native Otomi, originating from the Nahuatl.

Weekends are limited screen time days.

Mostly spend them out in nature, and getting shit done around the homestead.

However you're spending your time, hope you enjoy, and remember the present is a gift. Memento Mori.
