A reminder in case anyone's around at 1pm ET today that we'll be talking with Jacob Siegel about his opus on the "counter-disinformation complex" for Tablet mag. Will be taking live comments and questions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-sX8VaLBfA
It starts with porn. Next will be social media. The effect will be to “must show ID” to access much of the internet.
Most governments would ban anonymous speech and online privacy if they could. Many will try.
But they will fail.

I’m no VC, but I feel like handing $500k to a pseudonymous Twitter socialist to raise awareness about money printing might not be the most sound allocation of capital.
Remember that time bitcoin was the only money that didn't get totally frozen out by the Canadian government on its way to the troublesome truckers? I remember.

No apologies needed! I’m just happy to be here… seriously, thank you for grinding on Damus.
Posting on here and making a bunch of dumb formatting errors and not being able to delete my mistakes gives me real insight into the 2010s boomer social media experience.
On Thursday, @nickgillespie and I will talking on the Reason livestream with journalist Jacob Siegel about this article.
Will likely be bringing Nostr into the discussion as a possible antidote to the kind of algorithmic surveillance and AI-driven "pre censorship" that Siegel describes.
Take a look at this if you haven't yet. https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/guide-understanding-hoax-century-thirteen-ways-looking-disinformation
I'll be going to Bitcoin Miami with my colleagues nostr:npub1vrrvevxq2w8k7td6tyycu3qxdd6lgmf7f93kaa0nr76hkcwg8ajsjqe70u and nostr:npub17q0ckkzg4d9ydjrar6dcummlvy6yg5cunwhnrvf7fjxj3r8l5rrs0ayrvm this year. What topics would you like to see us cover for Reason?
ICYMI, my appearance on nostr:npub14kw5ygpl6fyqagh9cnrytyaqyacg46lzkq42vz7hk8txdk49kzxs04j7y0 with nostr:npub1tvqc82mv8cezhax5r34n4muc2c4pgjz8kaye2smj032nngg52clq0rkrq4 and nostr:npub1hqaz3dlyuhfqhktqchawke39l92jj9nt30dsgh2zvd9z7dv3j3gqpkt56s is available here. https://soundcloud.com/user356314547/plebchain-radio-episode-8-zach-weissmueller?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing
We covered a lot of ground: The dream of the '90s alive on Nostr, the birth and evolution of new media, Marshall McLuhan's prophecy, the limitations of "web 3.0," homelessness, FL vs. CA, Elon as the ultimate wildcard, Bluesky vs. Nostr, and much much more.
Wow, we are the exact same graduating class, similar philosophical trajectories...
Thanks man!
My impression is that there’s a large overlap between bitcoiners and libertarians. I’d venture most are in the libertarian-to-ancap spectrum, no?
As for the libertarians who aren’t bitcoiners or at least bitcoin-curious, I think it’s mostly hardcore goldbugs.
Because of Twitter’s algo, I’m totally up to date on Steven Crowder’s marital drama. #informed
Thanks for the vine on #[7]‘s work.

You guys should have him on sometime to talk about this series
About to go live on nostrnests.com/plebchainradio with#[0] and @qw. Come on over!
I'm excited to join#[0] and#[1] tonight at 6:30pm ET on#[2].
It's been fascinating to watch Nostr evolve and grow, and I'm looking forward to talking through how this network and Bitcoin intersect with the kind of work I do at Reason. See you tonight!
I haven't been invited to BlueSky yet so cannot comment on it.
But I am curious, at a protocol level, what are the most significant differences between Nostr and AT Protocol?
