A lot of people are missing at the moment that the safeguard against unconstitutional actions is NOT through #SCOTUS but through the Congress, and more importantly, through voters electing representatives who will react to unconstitutionality appropriately.
SCOTUS has no enforcement power against the Executive Branch. That was left to the Congresss.
Both SCOTUS and Congress can and should judge the President in different ways, but at the end of the day, it's up to the people we elect to Congress to react to whatever has been found about what the president has been doing.
Far too many congresspeople shirk their duties by pointing fingers at the other two branches when they're the only ones with the actual power to act, and that's critical to the US system.

they can do that here too (by running your own or joining the dark fedi etc) but is there a way to have someone handle it for you like joining a more moderated instance here? I want there to be more middle ground instances that don't block for bad opinions but does deal with assholes.
nostr:npub1ks4j70qusuv7hnaqcrr3azks95fxjpz4sx29sy9h35z3vltwaunsmdx88p I think this really highlights the ActivityPub design decision to centralize around instances instead of decentralizing down to users.
By default the experience is subject to the moderation decisions of an instance operator unless the user decides to opt out by giving up the technical and other advantages of the instance and making his own.
Sounds like nostr goes the other direction, letting the user be in control from the beginning, adding in others’ moderation assistance if they want.
In my personal opinion, the ActivityPub instance orientation was the wrong decision with this being just one of the downsides, but the horse is out of the barn now.
The history of technology is littered with better options being left behind as mediocre ones were in the right place at the right time to reach critical mass.

there will always be trade-offs. I just want everyone to get off the platforms and pick a decentralized option so that I can have one account and communicate/share with everyone. BlueSky, Nostr, etc. instead of adopting ActivityPub, everybody thinks they can do better and it's all just fractured. Ugh

Again, half the country has a different interpretation, and if you want to understand the situation you also have to at least recognize that.
Even better is to go a step farther and understand the other perspective, but the minimum is to recognize that it exists and shaped all of the events then and now.
