You said a couple of weeks ago that it felt like the top. I was somewhat inclined to agree at the time... then again, one thing I've learned is the market always overreacts both in the upside and downside because markets are composed of people that always overreact. Time will tell.
People didn't really think Trump was going to sign an order to create an SBR, did they?
I'm starting the episode right now. Best show on TV.
I'll probably get ripped apart for this comment, but I'm not convinced that "wired is better" as a blanket statement is broadly true - the quality of the headphone likely plays a much larger role.
Back in the early aughts when MP3s became prevalent, some grad school colleagues and I were testing sound quality for different songs across different genres from lossless down to 56 kbps. We had to get a fair bit below 128 kbps to noticeably hear any loss for most songs. So I'm willing to bet that most people, in a double-blinded experiment, cannot identify wireless/wired better than 50% of the time (therefore they're guessing) for good quality headphones. If anyone knows of the results of a double-blinded experiment that proves me wrong I'll happily shut up. Otherwise one of these days I'll have to run the experiment myself.
Not ear buds, but I quite like Shokz bone conduction headphones, which are great when you're outdoors and still like to be able to hear your surroundings. Only down side is some quality is not quite as good as traditional headphones, but being able to hear traffic for example is a huge safety plus.
Edit: Gulfo Americano translates to "American Gulf", Gulfo de America translates to "Gulf of America".
The part I find amusing is that the gulf was so-named in the 1500s, long before the US was a country - all of the "they're erasing history" people seem awfully quiet right now.
I don't think so. I'm more familiar with Italian (very similar to Spanish) so I may be wrong, but the word for the country is still America (ends in an "a" therefore feminine). However, if in a sentence you said American man man or American woman, you'd use hombre americano (masculine) or mujer americana (feminine), responsively (or in Italian uomo americano or donna americana).
It boggles my mind how people don't understand trade deficits. When the US has a trade deficit with Country X, that means the US (and therefore its consumers) are buying more goods from Country X than US producers and sellers are selling to that Country X. All a tariff does is make those goods more expensive for US consumers that want the goods. So sure, Country X suffers to some extent, but so do the US consumers that want those goods because it's the end consumer inevitably paying the tariff.
I hear some of the ridiculous things people say about tariffs and always think:
Here from Canada. Just like last time he took office, he's fabricating some excuse out of whole cloth to slam us with tariffs to make good on his promise to his base. This time is more frustrating because it was him that signed the previous free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico and now he's using thinly veiled "emergency powers" to justify it.
Nevertheless, Canada will be fine.
Our outgoing finance minister actually suggested leveling a 100% tariffs on Teslas which I found particularly funny.
Then again, Alberta is pretty beautiful too, looking forward to hitting Banff in a couple weeks with the fam.
Understandable you love the outdoors when you live in a beautiful place. Sad for me to say I'm a bad Canadian and have never visited there, but it's also sad that it costs way more to fly there from Alberta than it does to fly to Europe... reasons I've been to Europe 4 times. Oh well, one day.
Because the lobbyists at Intuit want to be able to charge you $50+ per year to make filing every year "easy".
I’m making a push to get on Nostr more, rather than X / Twitter. Thanks nostr:nprofile1qyv8wumn8ghj7urjv4kkjatd9ec8y6tdv9kzumn9wsq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet5qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejgqgzx3h , nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcp2amhxue69uhkv6tvw3jhytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef0dec82c33wv6hjufkwaskgamj0pjx2drvdpn8xdfkvahrvdrgwaa826rwvesnvu3ed44rgdekwg6hxdrgdd6ku7n80fchyuekwymh5qpqs5yq6wadwrxde4lhfs56gn64hwzuhnfa6r9mj476r5s4hkunzgzqjx5gu2 nostr:nprofile1qy0hwumn8ghj7cnfw33k76twd4shs6tdv9kxjum5wvhx7mnvd9hx2qg4waehxw309ajkgetw9ehx7um5wghxcctwvsqzq3e0gs8jnmued6f2rp4c6vs07xqvs4vs8zpwt82smcdch4txjvq76kl2yj nostr:nprofile1qythwumn8ghj7ct5d3shxtnwdaehgu3wd3skuep0qy0hwumn8ghj7cnfw33k76twd4shs6tdv9kxjum5wvhx7mnvd9hx2qpqhk0tv47ztd8kekngsuwwycje68umccjzqjr7xgjfqkm8ffcs53dqr23eea nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytndv9kxjm3wdahxcqg5waehxw309ahx7um5wfekzarkvyhxuet5qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncdhu7e3 for continuing to educate people about Nostr.
I was mostly a lurker on Twitter. When I did tweet, it was primarily talking smack to shitcoiners. I’ll try to provide more signal on Nostr.
I'm a bitcoin maxi. My portfolio consists of 1) bitcoin and 2) MSTR. And just enough fiat to pay the bills.
Despite being in bitcoin a while, I haven’t had much luck orange-pilling folks. An approach I’ve taken recently is framing it more as “if you’re not going to buy bitcoin, at least buy some for your kids.” This allows them to see the power of dollar-cost averaging (DCA).
In addition to the bitcoin I purchase for myself, I buy bitcoin monthly for my kids. I’ve done this since they were born. $200 on birthday and Christmas, $50 every month (bumped the $50 to $100 a few months ago). My oldest was born in 2019. As of January 2025 the total USD invested of $7500 has purchased 0.35 BTC. In USD terms it’s worth over $35k! ROI of 377%.
My youngest was born in 2021. The total invested of $5k has purchased 0.13 BTC. It is worth over $13k. An ROI of 165%.
Family and friends find this hard to believe. I suggest they try it for themselves. I think most people can afford to save money on behalf of their children, even if it’s only $20 a month.
Welcome to NOSTR!
Elon likes shitcoins and hilarious jokes. Here's a suggestion for him: through his Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) he could help plan the United States Shitcoin Reserved (USSR).
Eth turned me off because of their hard fork in the early days in response to the DAO hack. My shitcoin story is buying some Tezos during the ICO boom. Glad I was able to convert that garbage back to Bitcoin in 2020 without losing a lot of the bull momentum.
Lummis seems to be one of those rare politicians that actually gets it.
Oh Lord, what are they up to now?
Latest from me in Bitcoin Magazine on $Trump #Trumpcoin, crypto, and why he may not be as big a fan of Bitcoin as you may think
“Trump wants you to keep playing with crypto, funneling money to his organizations, but it’s unlikely he’d be a fan of anyone using bitcoin as a competitor to the dollar, circumventing traditional finance or using privacy tools (particularly if you are an adversary or from what he deems a left/woke cause, which perhaps one day he’d classify our nonprofit The Progressive Bitcoiner as). I’ll keep promoting Bitcoin as resistance money, and hope you’ll join me, rather than endlessly gambling on crypto “and everything else you’re playing with.”

Anyone surprised that he's co-opting Bitcoin so that he can create his newest grift, hasn't been paying attention. It wasn't even that long ago he had his ridiculous NFTs.
