How would one know if elvispresley.com or elvispresley.net is the real one? Both can have valid certs from valid CAs (many, if not most, are compromised anyway).
Mobiles could massively limit that once they get smarter about which events they query, remove duplicates, etc.

Yes, the displayed counter is tricky. More of a distraction TBH, cause you can never be sure its real (note author can zap himself to "self-boost").
Same reason why I stopped paying attention to likes and retweets on twitter, cause its heavily manipulated.

My goal was not to replace zaps, but to offer a way to instnatly tip sats non-custodially, that doesn't botch LNURL like zaps do, that any pleb can run from his own node, and that works on every nostr client.
