The biggest issue I've seen with ANY decentralized video hosting platform is that it's SLOW. If it's really slow to load things, it doesn't really matter what else it can do.

If I was running one, I'd prioritize performance over everything else (while working on creative ways to seed with content)

Almost none of the “huge monopolies” produced by the market that everyone was complaining about being too powerful 20 years ago, are still the same ones people are complaining about today.

Practically all of the regulatory and bureaucratic institutions that people were complaining about being too powerful and wasteful 20 years ago, are the exact same ones people are complaining about today.

Markets allow change. Despite enormous resistance, disruption can’t be stopped.

However, govts create waste, corruption, and destruction with no viable means of defunding. It metastasizes until it grows to a point where horrific violence becomes the only course of action to get any change.

The repo owners feel no pressure to respond to the needs of independent developers because ignoring or sidelining us keeps us as passive consumers of changes they've already discussed and implemented.

That means they're always one step ahead and they look like magicians because they announce a change to the protocol simultaneously to a new product feature and we all get sent back to the drawing board. They do that a few times and we give up and their competition is gone.

That's why most users think there are only a handful of developers.
