Angel Investing into #Bitcoin & p2p web Companies, supporting bitcoin culture at Geyser.fund Grants.

Hmmm could you expand on that one, I’m trying to get there

It’s ok if you own NFTs or have purchased them B or feel fomo around them - but the NFT people are some of the dumbest grifters on the planet.

NFT culture is societal cancer.

Really hoping that the bitcoin virus infects them as they grift with ordinals rather than them influencing bitcoin culture.

Listening to them in spaces is like living the movie Idiocracy.

Bitcoin’s existing nft culture with rare Pepes on counterparty is so much more tolerable and respectable compared to these crypto nft dummies.

Let’s go back to Web 1.0

How do you find a previous post by searching on Damus?

I just went through all 80+ applications for Round 2 of Geyser Grants.

In case you don’t know, we started Geyser Grants as a way to support people contributing to Bitcoin culture.

We were bootstrapped by an anonymous Bitcoiner to run 3 rounds grants to see if we could encourage the Bitcoin community and other anonymous Bitcoiners & Bitcoin companies to contribute to funding a community curated list of bitcoin projects.

We focus not just on builders, but also creators and educators!

We have lots of great initiatives to fund bitcoin development and open source including Brink Bitcoin, Open Sats, HRF Bitcoin Dev Fund, chain code, btrust, Bitmex developer grants, okcoin developer grants, spiral bitcoin grants and more 🔥🔥🔥

However, artists, translators, podcasters, comedians, designers, musicians and educators also need support.

Artists contribute to bitcoin culture and educators are fighting in the trenches against shitcoin disinformation, doing Satoshi’s work across the globe.

It’s our goal to unlock dormant pools of BTC from whales who are willing to pay their Bitcoin tithing to support high impact bitcoin evangelism and bitcoin culture projects.

Many early Bitcoiners just don’t have the time or energy to vet all of these projects that need funding - it’s a lot of work!

We built a voluntary advisory board of principled bitcoiner who go through the applicants and vote on a curated list.

We went through 80+ in the summer and just finished going through another 80+ for round 2.

As we continue round after round - we hope to prove to the bitcoin whales out there that we are curating a great list of projects contributing to Bitcoin adoption globally.

The total requested for Round 2 was ~$260K, which is not a lot.

It’s my hope that after a few more rounds, we will be able to fulfill all requests that meet our bar for support.

This is a ground-up community effort done in the spirit of bitcoin, eventually the Geyser team will build something that is community driven where we can optimize bitcoin donations to help boost the highest impact projects spreading bitcoin across the globe.

Proud of the geyser team and Geyser grants board, and very excited to see so many grassroots bitcoin projects across the world 🫂

Excited for 2025 🤙

Pretty safe, small town - although my truck was stolen out of my driveway last month 😬

If you setup an account on #[0] you can get an an LNURL which you can ALSO use on your Nostr profile … when you get zapped, it will show on your geyser page too!

Can also set this up if you’re a podcaster on Fountain.fm

Pretty rad if you ask me 🤙

Welcome to Nostr!

Send an email to #[2] at info@nostrverified.com with your pubkey and desired username and you’ll get verified.

Also get a wallet that lets you generate a LNURL, put that in your bio and watch the zaps come in.

Wallet of Satoshi is a wallet that allows for LNURL.

Doesn’t work with Lightning and onchain fees are increasing …

My daughter is 12 years old turning 13 soon.

My wife’s been struggling with letting her walk home from school and go places around the neighborhood with her friends.

So we finally caved on getting her a phone as a trade off to letting her have more independence.

We let her have a cell phone with the following rules:

-it’s our phone not hers

-she has to keep it charged and keep it with her when she’s not home so we can see where she is.

-she has screen time limits of 5:30 daily

-she has to answer when we call

-she acknowledges that we will be monitoring her messages and communications for her safety.

-she can’t use social media apps like tik tok, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.

-wear a whoop so we can encourage each other to be active and not let the phone give us bad physical activity habits.

So far so good, but I’m worried she’s not active enough already before getting her the phone.

Since the pandemic we kept her home from school so she would not have to wear a mask all day.

She developed poor habbits because all of her physical activities (hockey, karate, school) went out the window.

She wanted a dog forever and we finally capitulated because she promised to take care of him.

I thought she would be able to go on lots of walks etc with the dog … but he was a demon for the first year and we still have all the scars to show for it.

She is back in real school this year which has been great for her mentally and physically, but since the pandemic she only seems to be interested in playing games with friends, listening ti music and drawing … she plays hockey once a week still but quit karate.

I bought a meta quest to try to encourage more physical activity in games, but she got tired of that quickly and didn’t really give anything but beat saber a shot.

I don’t want to force her to enroll in physical activities, but I’m looking for tips on how to navigate this over the next couple of years as she becomes a young woman and more independent and opinionated.

She’s a great kid, does well in school independently and doesn’t get into trouble.

Anyone have any good resources for how to be a better parent and how to raise a teenage girl the right way?

#[1] what do you think as a gamer 😅
