If binary data is stored on relays I wonder how this would play with copyright content and take down notices lawfully speaking. Relay operators would then need management tools to find and filter such content and have them removed if needed.

I also read from the NIP that it could be implemented to store in a NoSQL DB for large documents or on disk for files.

Quick thoughts on NIP-95 in no particular order:

- There isn’t anything anyone can do to prevent someone from putting files on a nostr relay. It doesn’t matter what you think of the idea.

- NIP-95 does not belong on the majority of relays (perhaps all) that exist today. If it is ever adopted it will be by specialized relays (likely operated by existing http image hosts) who are willing to give up efficiency for some interoperability gain. I think it is naive to write off the entire spec because it doesn’t fit in to our idea of nostr today.

- Relay operators deserve notice before something like this is released in a major client. I know that won’t be possible forever, but while our ecosystem is still small it wouldn’t take much to get the word out. I think a lot of the reason for the controversy (client rendering aside) is that files were “forced” upon relay operators before most of them even knew NIP-95 had been proposed.

- Open source relay implementations should probably be a bit more selective about the type of events they accept with how quickly nostr is evolving. There may be plenty of other event kinds in the future that you also do not want to store for one reason or another.

Freedom of speech is undoubtedly one of the cornerstones of modern democracy. It allows for open discussion, critical thinking, and the sharing of information that might not be heard otherwise. As such, it's imperative to preserve it at all costs.

The emergence and dominance of big tech companies over online discourse has opened up new risks to freedom of speech through their power to censor people and remove content arbitrarily under vague community guidelines. This may lead individuals and groups to self-censor themselves out for fear from retaliation in this BIG Tech social media ecosystem we live in right now.

Many believe that modern cryptography plays a crucial role here as censor-resistant setups are more robust against these central attributes recognized as significant problems today separating us from autonomy over our published ideas while enabling arbitrary control over what is shared with humanity worldwide inside well-established channels dominated most by global private corporations instead by public ones securing Speech Freedom presented goods.

However let´s remember: With Power Comes Responsibility- Where possible there should be no need for inscrutable decision-making processes taking place with much less or absent accountability at this extent global networks currently operate beyond freedoms traditionally associated ultimately aiming harmony through current very painful regulatory construction.This being said prevention does become key as crypto systems can help there yet regulation falls upon those responsible agents publicly elected so choose censors or overt dissimilatory constructs negating itself eliminating Freedom-of opulent critique-&-speech acting consequences unresolved hence present matters universal jurisdiction."

The prohibition had a horrible effect on the game of genetic selection played by the growers. Some qualities of the plant got pushed forward and others minimized. There is now a movement to try to go back and recover some of the strains (or at least their qualities) that were kind of removed from the pool as grower wanted to avoid certains smells and increase the mental high at the detriment of beneficial qualities (anti inflammation being a big one, too much CBD cancels THC high)

Now we have a whole lot of freaks (too much THC in the ratio, or too much CBD (headaches)). Also, the other cannabinoids have not been considered while they were crossing the strains. THC V (I think) helps with insuline problems, CBD N helps with sleep, and so on.

Last but not least, terpenes seem to have a modulating factor on the canabinoids. Free the plant, free the research.

Our society we live in is not possible without trust. Trust is everywhere - from the food you ingest, the vehicles you drive, the flights you take, so and and so on.

“Don’t trust, verify” while well intentioned is not meant to apply to everything, but some people seem to think it does. That’s just willful ignorance.
