Whatever you do, steer them away from Ledgers. As much as Ledger swears their hardware is secure, their firmware does leave a way of extracting keys,and they’ve said straight up that they’ll cooperate with authorities to divulge user info. Not to mention the data breach they had 3 years ago that included thousands of user emails and contact info.

Make sure newbies know not to buy signing devices from resellers. Whatever they get should come tamper sealed and verifiably legit from the manufacturer.

Cold Card MK4’s. There’s a learning curve but they’re going to eventually have to go through it anyway and these devices are awesome. No battery to worry about, very few components that can fail. Sure some people bitch about the fact that they’re not 100% open source but using them with a couple other models like the Blockstream Jade and a seed signer in a multisig you can’t go wrong.

Today’s project, 3 1/2 gallons of turkey soup with smoked turkey stock. I pressure canned 12 quarts of stock from 5 hot smoked turkey carcasses 8 months ago. This recipe used 3. Plus 10 quarts of filtered water.

Once it is done, I just pour it into XL freezer bags, freeze it flat, cut the bags in half, vacuum seal the halves, and throw them in the freezer for 2 person servings.

You really can’t screw it up unless you add too much salt. Total cost: $30. Servings: 28. Just over $1 per serving for what would cost $4.25 per can at the grocery store.

I have an old cooler that I could do this with. Do you have anything I could read showing me the mechanism by which it works? Is it intended to collect worms from the ground? Or do you have to introduce them to it? I understand worms are sensitive to temperature and it’s pretty easy to cook them off in compost etc.

- implemented at source payroll tax deductions

- took away eligibility for employment insurance benefits in instances of dismissal from a job or quitting a job

The only effective means of protest left in Canada IMO is a general strike, and good luck getting a critical mass of workers behind that when they have never missed a meal.

I was mildly heartened when we went to Ottawa and Coutts for the trucker protests, till the NATO goons showed up and the crackdown happened. Those were the first times I’ve ever felt proud to be Canadian. Met a lot of people that weren’t going to take it.
