At least in the USA you have a tiny amount of extremely intelligent people keeping the country going. In Canada all the smart people eventually leave to the USA. So everyone here is almost equally dumb.

The network is a completely heterogeneous mix of node software. Core devs only have control over nodes that simply run the latest core version. Many nodes don't update regularly, and the more they abuse the Core repository, the more nodes will refuse to run core. And there's no way for core devs to physically stop people from becoming unsympathetic toward their rank.

Bitcoin core devs are not physical power projectors. They exist solely in the abstract domain, and can be countervaled by anyone running alternative software and projecting real power—people running the actual network.

Bitcoin Core is absolutely no exception, and is definitely prime target. The team you see today is most likely maximally captured/heavily influenced by deep state agencies. After all the legal, financial, cyber, and physical harassment making most other devs leave the project, this is the only outcome that makes sense to me.

Yes. Bought the house before I knew about bitcoin, and if I had it to do over again I'd probably still do both (house and bitcoin).

Since I want a homestead (where i can plant hundreds of trees, have chickens, bees, a garden, a plant nursery etc), a place to raise my kids, and the ability to build whatever I want and not worry about whether my landlord will be OK with it.

The house pays for itself since we made it a duplex and rent out the back to a friend fwiw.

I've lived the nomad life and we still do that as a family in the summers, but the value of having a solid home base where we can ride out most storms of the world is more valuable to me than more sats in a wallet.

Our physical environment is still important, and I feel for bitcoiner friends who have to move out of their rental house for this or that reason.
