I must be a weirdo but it's totally opposite to me 😂

Today, I was trying to explain to my mother/ she is 80 /why I believe cyberspace communities built on decentralized protocols like Nostr are the future of human interaction and freedom of expression. Unlike centralized social media, Nostr's peer-to-peer structure allows users to freely discuss topics that are hard to find in the physical world.

I told my mother that while in-person interaction remains valuable, the challenges of finding like-minded individuals can make online, protocol-based communities an appealing alternative. The decentralized nature of Nostr makes it resistant to censorship, as there is no single point of control. Additionally, Nostr accounts are tied to public-private key cryptography, giving users more control over their data and identity.

This decentralized approach, combined with Nostr's developer-friendly design, aligns perfectly with my vision for the future of online interaction and expression. I believe cyberspace communities gathered around decentralized protocols have the best chance of fighting for true freedom, both economically and culturally.

However, my mother found it really hard to believe that I truly look for friends, collaborators, and people to discuss current events and the future on Nostr. I don't think she's an exception - a lot of people don't treat online communities seriously. This is likely due to the permanent damage caused by the centralization and misuse of traditional social media platforms.

Please let me know your opinion when you go through it. I read it twice and checked most of facts, laws etc. Most things are true. Pretty shocking it's not a position widely known.

Not sure if he published his visuals and sounds are not published yet..I need to put them on nostr:npub1yfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9shwv6vg though. Will keep you updated:)

Interesting. Me and nostr:npub15ej2f9eu6glf7we45cjznam8r2azc2hx3spnzwgnkhpdwunfmyrq03p58q have a series of art called HUMAN ERROR...sounds and vision. I think he made a compilation of my noise called Human Error as well.

Essential Reading:

Nicole Perlroth - THIS IS HOW THEY TELL ME THE WORLD ENDS: The Cyber Weapons Arms Race

"Written in the hot, propulsive prose of a spy thriller" (The New York Times), the untold story of the cyberweapons market―the most secretive, government-backed market on earth―and a terrifying first look at a new kind of global warfare.

Zero day: a software bug that allows a hacker to break into your devices and move around undetected. One of the most coveted tools in a spy's arsenal, a zero day has the power to silently spy on your iPhone, dismantle the safety controls at a chemical plant, alter an election, and shut down the electric grid (just ask Ukraine).

For decades, under cover of classification levels and non-disclosure agreements, the United States government became the world’s dominant hoarder of zero days. U.S. government agents paid top dollar―first thousands, and later millions of dollars― to hackers willing to sell their lock-picking code and their silence.

Then the United States lost control of its hoard and the market.

Now those zero days are in the hands of hostile nations and mercenaries who do not care if your vote goes missing, your clean water is contaminated, or our nuclear plants melt down.

Filled with spies, hackers, arms dealers, and a few unsung heroes, written like a thriller and a reference, This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends is an astonishing feat of journalism. Based on years of reporting and hundreds of interviews, The New York Times reporter Nicole Perlroth lifts the curtain on a market in shadow, revealing the urgent threat faced by us all if we cannot bring the global cyber arms race to heel.

I just got it as audiobook. Thx!
