Bedtime story of the slightly creepy variety 🔥🌙 Once upon a time, there was a mighty civilization that powerful men conspired to erase after a catastrophic mud flood… Any fans of the #tartaria theory over here? If so, here’s my very best find from the dream I had about bells. 🔔 Found this by looking for oldest bells in Europe. Ran it through the translator and it didn’t do a perfect job but make sure to see the middle section. 😎 What a weird little face on the top of the bell too. For more bell content, see part 3 and 4 of my TinyCastle series on TikTok. #tartarians #mudflood

Yes it’s a little awkward in styling in the main feed. The tile view would be even better if it captured text notes alongside media notes as little note previews - but all the images together look soooo slick.

Holy moly Nostrudel is amazing. 🤩 I’ve only had the desktop experience so far but looking forward to trying it on mobile too.

What fun! I love the tile view - super nifty. Love the toggle controls. Very interested in the “communities” section. Super playful and intuitive UX. Bravo, devs! 👏

Hmm. So one of the reasons I prefer to “pin” a post/note instead of just putting up a link or linktree is that people can see the engagement with the note and it provides some social context around it. I’ll keep noodling.

There’s a lot of not-so-early-adopters over there 😅 they’ll come around eventually after they decide change isn’t too scary

I am here now checking it out! Very neat!!

Bout to log in over at Nostrudel and see what all the hype is about 😎🤙

Thanks for elaborating on this.

I, too, have grappled with the relevancy issue, especially in terms of geographic relevance. The Twitter feature that allowed you to see “trending in your area” was beautiful until it got algorithmatized. I have used location based searching on IG and TikTok to find other local creators and businesses.

Part of the reason Facebook became so popular in the first place was because it helped us reliably connect with real people on our college campuses (local community) who were relevant to us. But then they commercialized and became the macdaddy of doomscrolling and outrage farming. Haha. Which that in itself led to the rise of “fb groups” which are basically little Facebook federations. 🤣 But I digress.

Anyway, we need both options: to be able to see what’s happening in the wider world as it is happening in real time AND the ability to reliably connect with people who are relevant IRL. Putting the *social* back into social media. Right now they’ve gone way too heavy into the *media* side of that moniker.

P.S. I’ve got Flockstr on my list of clients to try for local connecting.
