Today there is almost nothing disincentivizing a bad actor from spinning up hundreds of thousands of troll accounts on legacy platforms.
Even a 1$ entry fee would cost that same actor $100,000 grand to spam the relay, at which point the operator could ban them.

I lived in China when TikTok first launched. Never thought I would see something so stupid take off.
It did.
I resisted. I would never use something so dumb, mindless, and time-wasting.
5 years went by and it became the #1 app.
I still resisted. Never. Instagram began cloning it and forcing users to watch reels.
I deleted my Instagram.
YouTube is now bombarding my feed with shorts. Twitter is now cloning the scrolling video feed.
There is nowhere to hide.
Stop forcing this society destroying, attention-span wrecking, addiction driven crap on me.

99% of what you see on a paid #nostr relay is authentic. Real plebs. Real conversation. No propaganda.
Signal > noise.
This is how society heals.
Could be. But without an algorithm, the only way a post can get super viral is with constant reposts from others, otherwise it will be buried quickly.
This is the one downside of a chronologically based feed. If you don’t check Nostr for a few days then you will miss some of the most popular posts an algorithm would otherwise serve up.
