I write the principles I want to live by on a regular basis. They’ve remained fairly consistent over the years.

1. Everything is connected.

Therefore, I want to be mindful that every action I take will eventually come back to me.

2. Everyone knows everything, eventually.

Therefore, I want to be sure I act with transparency with a desire to be fair.

3. I know nothing.

Therefore, I want to be curious and always seek to listen and learn.

I fail at some of these regularly. But it’s been important to come back to them and validate my actions and consider ways to improve.

Damus’ goal from day one has always been to give individuals complete control over the types of interactions they want to have. Algorithms, users, and advertisers do not have authority over individual preferences.

If a user doesn’t want to receive zaps, they can not add a lightning address to their profile. Now if they don’t want to receive likes, they can turn them off.

In the future users will also be able to turn off replies unless they are subject to certain conditions, such as if they are friends or only zap comments.

If you don’t like users who use these features, you don’t have to follow them. I still think you should try to respect users preferences even if you disagree with them. Just my 2 sats ✌️

Another huge problem I see with AI (if it doesn’t immediately become our overlord) is the widening of the technological gap that already exists. We hear a lot about the number of early adopters to ChatGPT, but the number of people who haven’t even heard of it is astounding. It’s moving so fast and they are already so far behind.

I agree with the problem. Remember that war is the health of the State. That's how the oligarchy pumps money out of a country. Creating a new set of countries won't fix the problem, but rather creates more opportunities for conflict. The problem is the State.
