T minus 15.5 hours

It’s an amazing piece of engineering and a reusable launch system really does change the economics of space.

But I’m still not sure what the biz cases are beyond Starlink which is basically an ISP.

What new things are people going to build in orbit?

What voyages could actually be profitable?

Any volume of commodity from space would probably crash the market.

People with the social-survival strategy of "stick with the pack" can't allow themselves to fathom that the pack might be wrong, that the consensus, the mainstream, could be way off base. Because it would be too disturbing to their own sense of safety. What can you believe if you can't trust the pack? Such people can never be good scientists because they are not wed to truth. They are wed to society.

A lot (if not almost all) emphasis on financial privacy in the bitcoin community is focused on privacy-from-government as the core concern. For good reason. Particularly those using bitcoin to avoid political repression. It's life and death. I know some of these people personally.

This completely ignores the more proximate concerns of the need for financial privacy that emerge from the private sphere. If we don't have privacy, it puts a target on our back from bad, private actors. Fraudsters, thieves, or worse.

Privacy is fundamentally important within our personal lives, even if you take the government out of it the picture. State abuse of power is surely a critical concern. But so is private abuses of power -- such as in the phenomenon of "surveillance capitalism". The full-throated defense of privacy does not start and end with concerns about the state.

privacy does not exist. everyone with the means & power to be abusive is being abusive, even the folks whom are thought of as the nicest, most upright, or principled is ~totally~ violating the rights of anyone they choose.

if i could, i would recommend to elon that he do an interview with #[0].

there are many “intellectual” & truth-conducive reasons for these two to speak, but it would just be nice for people to see elon speak with more people who are emotionally mature…level-headed, fair, considerate, sincere & appropriately confident. peter & danny seem like such people who would also not get weird, obnoxious or nervous around elon. peter & his team are curious too and like to have clarity, and i am sure they are able to bring out the best in people (if all parties are willing)…
