I just heard the scariest story in a while. Someone told me that they had been traveling in China and, on the way out, the border police pulled up a tool that showed countless photos of this person taken by public surveillance cameras during their visit.

These are CCTV cameras in public. Faces classified with AI. All data gathered in a central location. Don't even think for a second this is never going to happen where you live.

That's a level of dystopia I didn't know we were already in.

Is there any interest from anyone to build something like an e-mail marketing software client that allows for nostr users to add an email and be notified that way as well? Or perhaps an email collection widget that interfaces with nostr? Nostr-to-email.

I think the legacy world would very much like that and it would be a good way to keep people in the loop on any content they don’t want to miss.

Or tell me why this is a bad idea.

I have a potentially really dumb question:

Why is a hardware wallet "Necessary" for cold storage?

Since the seed phrase to generate keys are the important thing, why does a body need to spend money on hardware wallet to store the seed phrase? (How to do that is another thing and I've already got that covered.)

I just haven't had the answer to that click yet. Help?
