I told nostr:npub14j7y6l7kprs8azvq7z7r02qu2ah3wysy70p53yvl79epwhs970mqrqantz today on the phone today that I’d be freaking out about the state of corporate tech right now if I didn’t know that #nostr exists.

I thank God for Nostr.

I’d expect new users on #Nostr due to changes on corporate tech platforms as a result of the Online Safety Bill.

Not necessarily nefarious users but more along the lines of folks who will be unwilling to accept the changes.

Journalists, whistleblowers, survivors, anons, political dissidents, activists and anyone who doesn’t feel comfortable giving ID. Anyone who is skeptical of the government or mass surveillance. Folks who believe in a need for encryption etc. I’d expect them in the next few months perhaps shortly at this rate.

I have a lot to say about that but I’ll leave it there for now.

Hello beautiful people on #nostr

I’ve been primarily using my anon account on Nostr, upgrading personal privacy and security and learning. I have so much to learn, the Cypherpunks are taking me to school. Wow! There is a lot of history there. It’s all been very inspiring.

I just wanted to say how proud I am of you folks. Please keep going! Please keep building. The deeper I get along this journey the more that I appreciate the need for what you are building.

It won’t be perfect, you’ll hit some rough patches but it will be worth it. Sending you love. 💜

One last thing, if someone says they are me from another account, that’s not me.

This is the only account that you can speak with that you can 100% identify as mine.

I’ll still use this npub to update occasionally. I’ll check dms here occasionally.

I’m not following or engaging with my close friends accounts on Nostr. We can and do talk offline.

I’ll slowly follow, engage and zap those that I follow on this account because I really really like you folks. I’ll try to pop in nest conversation’s whenever I can.

I’m mostly just excited to post anon! My entire life, especially over the last few years, I’ve wondered if my ideas and words have been strong enough to stand on their own. I believe that speaking mostly anon will force me to sharpen my ideas. There is a small piece of me that is terrified that perhaps I have gotten special treatment all along for various reasons that had nothing to do with my mind, heart, passion, work ethic or spirit. I probably did get some special treatment. I have also received the other side of that coin as well. Unfortunately, like so many I’ve been called every name that a woman can be called online for decades.

I believe that in some cases being public with your identity is necessary to add credibility to a situation, Snowden is a great example. His bravery stepping forward added credibility to his story as a whistleblower. It also cost him his freedom.

I believe in Nostr. I also believe in accepting personal responsibility. I have a responsibility to protect myself online. One impersonation account on Nostr inviting men who engage with my account to my house was too far. This not only puts my loved ones as well as myself in danger but also puts anyone who might show up unwittingly to my house after being catfished in danger. I am a firm believer in private property and self defense, legally and lawfully of course.

If this happened on a corporate tech platform, there are some ways to track down the offender. On Nostr, I don’t have that specific luxury. The good news about that is there are also similar benefits, the government also can’t track me down if I post a meme on Nostr that they don’t like.

One insane individual has invited people to my home while impersonating me on Nostr. This type of behavior puts myself and my loved ones in physical danger. I can’t change what others do just how I react to it.

These are the types of tactics that are used against survivors, whistleblowers, political dissidents, activists etc globally.

The pushback towards those speaking out against the powerful is massive.

I’ve had an opportunity to experience it in my own way to a lesser degree.

When I brought up a very similar example the other night on the nest during ladies night, I didn’t know that it was currently happening on X. An eerie coincidence.

I went to look for myself and it does look like there was a problem at publishing. I haven’t looked since. It’s difficult sometimes knowing what’s propaganda and what’s real. I basically take everything with a grain of salt but there is probably also a grain of truth.

It’s something to consider moving forward. I’d tell the dissidents to join Nostr and I bet that some have but I don’t know if Nostr is ready for The Eye of Sion yet.
