We're a nomadic family living full time in a van. We seek as much freedom this way as is possible for us in today's world. We are anarchists, hippies and nomads. Come with us on an amazing journey through life, because life is just awesome :). We share our findings and reflections from nomadic life on the youtube channel "Karel od Martiny" in Czech language. https://creatr.nostr.wine/subscribe/npub1y2se87uxc7fa0aenfqfx5hl9t2u2fjt4sp0tctlcr0efpauqtalqxfvr89

Well, it makes perfect sense. If you wrote it and decided to post it, there is a big chance, you actualy liked it :). Why else would you want us to read it, right?

Martina and I have been intrigued by the biohacker community lately (me more than Martina, I guess :) ). We've enjoyed the holistic approach of techniques to make our lives a more energetic, sustainable and fulfilling ride.

However, we soon ran into a problem. Our ascetic lifestyle is not very consistent with acquiring all sorts of technological gadgets, expensive nutritional supplements, or other typical biohacker products. So we got to thinking - is it really necessary to spend half of our monthly income on biohacking?

My guess is no. I think that many people starting out with biohacking immediately jump on the most expensive tech gadgets, yet they are far from having figured out things they can start doing for free and immediately.

Let's start with the cheapest biohacking - Focus not on what new things to get, but instead on what things to cut out of your life. What things to stop buying. Who knows, you might even save money in the end.

Here are some ideas:

- Stop eating junk food.

Junk food is not only demonstrably unhealthy, but even prohibitively expensive. Junk food is the worst price/performance combination ever. At a high price, it will even give you negative performance. It harms you, it takes away your energy, it paralyses you. One of the worst business deals ever.

- Buy only water.

Flavored, over-sweetened sodas and alcohol also give you negative benefits at too high a price. By cutting out these things and replacing them with plain water, you not only save money, but also extend the quality and length of your life.

- Meditate.

That's a classic. One of the best free biohacks. Just sit back, breathe, and you're off.

- Exercise.

Exercise with your own body weight, do yoga, run... you don't need a gym membership or expensive equipment right away.

- Keep fasting.

Much has been written about the benefits of fasting. Moreover, this biohack is not only zero cost, but even negative. You actually make money from not having to buy any food at all and you get better antifragility and maybe even health.

- Go to bed on time.

Also, don't look at your phone before bed and get the best quality sleep you can. You'll have plenty of free energy the next day.

- Walk and cycle.

Need to get somewhere in the city? Ride a bike. You'll save money on public transport and get valuable extra exercise at the same time. And it's not too time-consuming either, you just need to make a small mindset shift: if you didn't bike, you'd still have to reserve the time later the day to get some exercise, right?

- Learn proper time management techniques.

Don't leave your phone on when you need to focus, schedule your day well, stop procrastinating and learn how to find flow states. It will save you a lot of time, energy, and mental health.

- Don't pay for Netflix.

You will save money and no one will try to steal your time that you can spend practicing or developing. Win Win.

- Don't go to Twitter, go to NOSTR

Not only will you move from a highly toxic environment with the mood of a post-apocalyptic, slowly disintegrating society to one that is building, enthusiastic and positive, but you can also make some money from it. Not only that. Zaps may not make you rich, but they have an excellent motivational ability to get you to write and also to think about whether what you're writing is of real value.

- If you can think of any other biohacking for free or with negative value, let me know in the comments :).

Super! To děláš celé ty? Dá se sehnat někde nějaká ucelená verze?

After visiting the beautiful BTC Prague and the even more beautiful Paralelní Polis in Prague (I express my gratitude to nostr:npub1m2mvvpjugwdehtaskrcl7ksvdqnnhnjur9v6g9v266nss504q7mqvlr8p9 Juraj Bednár for the top-notch tour), I now face a workweek to replenish all the sats I spent during this week when Prague was buzzing with cryptocurrencies, cypherpunks, crypto-anarchy, and Nostr,

While it's possible to live in a van with kids and a dog in the middle of a city, it's not pleasant in the long term (especially for a mother and children). Therefore, we have decided to split for this week. While my wife sets off to nature with the van and the kids, I, on the other hand, am taking our teepee and staying in Prague. Luckily, I have the privilege of utilizing my friends' garden, situated on the outskirts of Prague. I brought along a fridge from the car (since my wife, being a vegetarian, doesn't use the fridge), and I've set up my nomadic dwelling there, where I'll retreat to sleep after a day's work.

Aside from borrowing electricity from my friends, I am fully self-sufficient, and I am delighted that even though I am on their property, I won't bother them at all if they need some time for themselves.

If I were living in the southern regions, I believe I could comfortably reside in this teepee throughout the entire year. It's truly remarkable to be able to live in something that costs no more than a basic M1 MacBook. I simply love the nomadic lifestyle.

What if bitcoin ends tommorow and we all find out it was all for nothing?

Well, I do not think we will ever be able to say "it was all for nothing" anymore...

In my opinion, the value of Bitcoin lies not only in its potential to become a global currency in the future but also in the fact that it has created a massive rabbit hole in this world over the course of a few years. People are falling into this hole by the hundreds and beginning to understand what money is, what a state is, what taxes and inflation are. It helps them stop and reflect on whether something is not wrong with the states. And once they have seen the truth, no one can take that away from them. The harm was already done.

Even if Bitcoin were to plummet to zero tomorrow, it has already opened so many minds that it could be considered a tremendous success. And if you continue to open minds in the future, you won't have to worry about whether Bitcoin fails, because those minds won't easily close again, and your impact will remain regardless of the price.

Even if the ultimate purpose of Bitcoin is simply to offer a mindshift to people, it is still an incredibly successful and valuable project with no equivalent. Think about how many people initially wanted to get rich because they saw their friends' percentages rise. They bought in and then became nervous because they were risking their own skin. And so, out of nervousness, they started educating themselves. Suddenly, you have decentralization, freedom, the Austrian School, and anarchy being introduced to an unprecedented number of normies. I know it, because it happened to me too.

Start using OpenStreetMaps. The map is much better then GoogleMaps, I have GMaps only to check restaurant, which are not covered well on OpenStreetMaps.

1. Download https://osmand.net/

2. It's local first app, so you have to download the map of the area.

3. OsmAnd has a bit harder UI but there is so much features.

4. The important thing is to realize that you have multiple UI profiles (for car/war/bike/...). So you can set different level of detail to see and define for yourself what is relevant for you in given situation.

More tips in upcoming posts.

For car gps I recommend Magic earth. Also for bikes worked well Organic maps. Both of them should be good for privacy and based on open street map (and also work offline).

Sorry #Nostr, that we abandoned you for a while. I have been going through tough ayahuasca diet, which included turning off my social media and internet for few weeks. But now, when the healing is complete, it is time to get back to the keyboard. See you soon :).

Hi, thank you very much. About a way to connect... If you mean our email, you can use this: karelodmartiny@proton.me. if you mean some website, or channel to follow, we unfortunately do not have one (yet).

Hi, we are right now in Greece. This is unfortunately older photo, because I would like to show photos and places we visited before our transition to NOSTR too. So this cave is located in Sardinia, where we were last winter.

Hello.

Thank you for your great comment, which nicely explains the part where I failed a little (after all, I am not a perfect human being, right? :) ).

I completely agree and apologize for how it came across. I think I got carried away with how good and provocative the statement would sound and forgot that it could cause confusion.

You are right, that it is very important to remember that not expecting perfection from our children may not always be enough. If a person toxicly expects perfection from themselves, they will set an example for their children and in the end transfer that "perfect human" expectation onto them anyway (because, as you say, they learn those behaviors from us).

However, I believe that there might be a healthy striving for personal perfection. And by this, I do not mean perfection in some general standard or as portrayed in pop culture (which doesn't really exist), but rather perfection in one's own standards, or perhaps in the internal standards of a family. Maybe it is precisely because of this striving that it is more obvious for a person to apologize if they make a mistake. Because if they did not even try to achieve any personal perfection, not much would seem like a "mistake" to them.

For example: I believe that my perfect self should not raise my voice or curse, and in case I slip up, I will come and apologize to everyone. If I did not believe that I wanted to be the ideal image of my own self (non-confrontational and not vulgar), then why would I have a reason to apologize at all?

Maybe the missunderstanding might be in the word "perfection", which is too strong and demonized (especially in connection with kids) and maybe I should just use "better self" or "ideal self". What do you think? Did I get your comment right?

Writing, reading and playing hide and seek. Great sunday.
